🔧 Starrett 166B Insulated Octagonal-Handled Tool Review

Nicely made and typically Starrett. Chromed steel with hexagonal polymer handle (I think Deldrin). The jaws are symmetrical. It has a hollow core so it can hold a tool or workpiece of any length. Relief after so much china stuff.

All in all it's a good little tool that does what you expect it to. The only thing that could be better is the collet which has a 4 sided design. The triangular collet has a better grip and is easier to handle. But a 3 tooth collet would add to the price so I find this tool well worth the money.

The body and grip of this vise is very good as you would expect from Starrett. But the cheeks were not cut in the middle (see photo). Edit: I contacted Starrett and they told me to send it back to Revain for a replacement. What I did. The replacement has the same problem but the metal part is not centered on the plastic handle. This is worse than the first! I don't think Starrett is the same as before.
