Sending those international postage costs meant returns/replacements weren't cost effective. Waste of a product I couldn't even use for a day. Although the material and workmanship appear to be well made, either the holes weren't screwed in properly or the screws were bad.

So I ordered one of these a few days ago and it arrived but one of the screws holding the hard drive cover was just completely missing. After ordering a new one and setting up the return of the old one, it came with all the replacement parts. The screwdriver provided was extremely soft metal and broke the tip of the first screw, luckily I was able to remove the broken part of the screwdriver from the screw and use my own screwdriver. It does what it says on the tin and I've had very few issues with it. The only exception is that the drive I'm using, the 1TB Crucial MX500 model, gets hotter than other M.2 SSDs, and the sealed case I got boils this SSD up quickly. It is not uncommon for the temperature in a sealed enclosure to rise above safe limits. I needed a SATA enclosure for my M.2 SSD and it fits like a glove! One thing I should mention: the tiny nut and screw holding the SSD in place are tiny and require patience to get them back into place; HOWEVER, you will experience this with EVERY body, so don't let that put you off.

Item will not work to connect an NVME .2 internal hard drive. I don't know if it was my fault or if I picked the wrong product or if it just didn't work. Delivery and everything went great.

Good product, I've become a fan of StarTech products. It's worth the money I paid • the way the case fits together • the metal or plastic case • the way the drive fits into the case • and how it opens and closes... although I do wouldn't do it often... all reasons I would recommend this to others.

I use these with M.2 Micron M600 512GB drives as SSD doesn't work on some motherboards. This drive enclosure allowed me to continue to use the M.2 drive effectively on whatever system I wanted to use it on. The build looks the same as any other SSD but allows for multiple M.2 drives of different sizes. Speeds like any other SSD. This worked great for a temporary project. I migrated my slightly older laptop from a 128GB to a 512GB SATA M.2 drive. I stick my old one in here, plug it into an additional SATA drive, and then the new drive into its final home in the M.2 slot on my motherboard. A brief use of "dd" on Linux and everything was done.
