Perfect KVM Switches

I spoke to StarTech Support before ordering anything. They walked me through setting up my KVM switch and told me exactly what to order. They only had one of these in stock through Revain so I had to order that one and another from another supplier. Works perfectly. I really appreciate StarTech's support. Very helpful.

Audio cables too short

Good cable, built-in speaker, microphone, USB and DVI. But the audio cables are short. When connected directly to a KVM with all connectors aligned, the thick DVI cable can pull out the audio cables. Please note that this is a very rigid cable. Also, it's a DVI-I cable. This means it has 4 small pins around the paddle for the analog signal as well as pins for the digital signal. Not only does this connect to a digital jack blocking holes for 4 analog pins. I also tried prying out the 4 analog…

Works well but the audio cables are too short.

These cables, well, cables. There is nothing more to say about this part. They work fine. Three stars for this part. To my annoyance, two extra stars are missing: the audio cables are slightly shorter than the DVI part. Since the DVI part is the thicker and stiffer part of the cable, using this cable in tight spaces can cause the audio jacks to pop out of the sockets. A minor annoyance, but an oversight that could have easily been avoided. The audio jack gave me the most problems; I solved the…

Ideal! Computer components

Needless to say much about cables, suffice it to say that this product offers quality and value for money. The construction is top notch, the quality of the materials is excellent and the price is reasonable. I've found that StarTech generally makes good stuff, especially hard-to-find stuff. Some of them are expensive but they are of good quality so this is a wise investment.

Works well - KVM switches

I purchased this product for use with Windows XP and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. No additional software installation or special configuration required. The only thing worth noting is that the Linux system reports "usbinit endpoint not found" when it starts, but it starts and runs on its own. It worked after I plugged it in and started both computers. The switch button on the lectern is particularly useful: you no longer have to crawl under the lectern to switch between systems, as was the case…

Bad signal, possible QA issue

I bought these cables to connect one of my computers to KVM. When I first turned it on I had flickering pixels and my display went completely black every 2-10 seconds. At first I thought my KVM isn't good or it's getting too hot, but I also knew that not all DVI cables are created equal. I bought an expensive cable (about $30) and the problem completely went away from the display that was having problems. I thought maybe it stopped because the machine was getting cold and the KVM was getting…
