I used this for backups all the time until I bought a SATA enclosure

Thing works great and has always worked. I haven't had any problems with any of the StarTech units I've had. I think their work is excellent and I check with them first if I have any computer needs that I think they can meet.

USB 3.0 for faster data transfer

Good product much faster than the USB 2.0 external drive I have. Sometimes I needed an external drive bay to recover data for family and friends. Copying the contents of an old hard drive to a new hard drive when the old hard drive won't boot is what this is mainly used for. I would also take old drives that I removed from the old PC and extract data from them. A good product has always worked.

Great hard drive accessory

Used to transfer files from my old dead computers to the new one. It was a lot easier than plugging them into my new PC's motherboard.

Does what it should. Got mine with me.

Does what it should. Got mine with the door broken. The door hung on only one hinge. The other loop was separated and twisted a spring inside. But the product still works well and serves its purpose.

Easy to use USB 3 ideal for HDD enclosures

Use this for backups on my main PC. can also clone a drive (software not included) in case the main drive fails. User-friendly USB 3.0 for faster speed. I only keep my backup drive online while I'm backing up.

Works but has some issues with the latest Windows OS

The product was paired with an IDE adapter to connect an old desktop hard drive to a laptop. It worked with a laptop running Windows XP and I was able to read and write to the hard drive, transfer files from the hard drive and run programs hosted on the hard drive. Installation is a bit fiddly and the adapter doesn't hold the drive in place, but the included cables and software make it possible to connect. This did not work with laptops running Windows 8 or Windows 10. The operating system…
