Excellent SATA Docking Station

After using this accessory I found that the StarTech Com Dual SATA Docking Station is one of the best hard drive docking stations. It is easy to set up, and it delivers fast data transfer speeds. The dock has two bays, making it easy to transfer data from one hard drive to another.However, the dock can get hot after prolonged use. Overall, I highly recommend this product, and it is an excellent accessory to have to manage and transfer data from your computer..

Worst Purchase Ever

According to my experience this docking station was a complete waste of money. The only positive thing I can say is that it looked nice. However, the cons far outweighed the one positive .It was incredibly slow and unreliable. It frequently froze during transfers, causing me to lose important files. Overall, I would not recommend this product to anyone..

Not true hot-swap, dock reboots when drive is inserted or removed

Contrary to the description here and on the StarTech website, this item does not support hot-swap (associated with a specific bay ). In particular, the docking station restarts when a disc is inserted or ejected. Each time the dock restarts, all devices in the dock disappear from the operating system and then reappear. If any operation is performed on drive A while drive B is being inserted or removed, the operation will be aborted and file system corruption may result. If the file system is…
