MAXIMUM PORTABILITY: The USB ethernet extender features a compact design with no external power requirements, making it ideal for remote USB devices for where access to electrical outlets is limited. SAVES SPACE: The USB 1.1 extender helps reduce cable clutter and the need for mid-point USB hubs/repeaters by running a single, easy-to-install Cat5/Cat6 cable. MEETS INDUSTRY STANDARDS: Able to deliver up to 300mA of power, the USB over Cat5/Cat6 extender is fully compliant with the USB 1.1 specification, with support for up to 12Mbps of data bandwidth.

Excellent solution for transferring USB devices over long distances.

We used this unit at a company meeting to move USB devices from the back of the control room to the stage in the front of the room. We connected our presentation clicker receivers to this unit so the clickers don't have to travel more than 150 feet to the receiver. We have found that when a room fills up with people who have cell phones in the 2.4GHz band, the clickers stop working due to interference. This problem was alleviated by having clickers next to the presenters.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Works like clockwork - Networking products

I use this for the telescope in the observatory building. The standard USB cable didn't work because it was too long. This thing did it. Works great!

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Not sure

Doesn't work with HuddleCam

HuddleCam 720p doesn't work for me, even with a short Cat5/6 cable to test. The image blinked and closed. Works well with a Logitech webcam, even at 1080p, so you know what? Maybe the compression on the HuddleCam isn't that good. Anyway it didn't work for me. I ended up paying for the StarTech USB2004EXT2, which so far (in testing) works great with the HuddleCam.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Everything is fine

. on the market today and it is by far the best device on the market

We have tried most USB extenders on the market today and this is by far the best device. We run long distances with the Mac Mini and Samsung touchpads and have encountered no issues using the StarTach product. A bit pricey but as we all know you pay for what you get. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Rugged build
Cons
  • Update available
