Finally typing, hooray!

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and an older HP PSC 500 with a DIY computer. The other mobo failed and the new one didn't have a parallel port. I love this HP printer and really didn't want to replace it. Parallel USB adapters will not work with this particular HP. And Win 7 doesn't recognize the HP PSC 500's ability to scan either, but that has nothing to do with this card. I put the card in the new motherboard, booted it up and downloaded and automatically installed all the drivers. An…

Just what I needed to hook up my old printer

I needed one of these to hook up my old Epson Actionlaser 1500 to my new computer. Of course, most new computers don't have a parallel port - this was an easy and inexpensive way to keep using my trusty old printer. I have also used them at work and the product works perfectly. Windows normally finds and loads the driver automatically, but if for some reason the site is blocked by a web filter, this card also comes with a CD. mid-height body. The card fits in a full-size case when the metal…

Win7 64-bit with SafeNet key works fine

When the USB to parallel adapter cable with the SafeNet key I had to use didn't work at all, I got this parallel Tried PCI card. The key works great. The included CD contained all the drivers needed for 64-bit Windows 7, although the printed manual made no mention of Windows 7 at all. However, the driver must be installed manually. After installing the card in my computer, I opened Device Manager and saw that the card appeared with a yellow icon indicating a problem. I selected Driver Update…

Works well on Windows 7 64-bit

I installed this card on a Dell desktop system running Windows 7 (64-bit). Our HP Laserjet 4050 printer (I know!) works without any problems. The card came with a CD, but I didn't even bother to look at it. Instead I downloaded the driver from the StarTech website. What's in the Box: * Low Profile PCI Express x1 Card * Driver CD * High Profile Bracket Adapter * User Manual * Part no. PEX1P The packaging states that the item has a "2 year warranty". Aside from being a bit more expensive than I…

Works fine easy install

At first I wanted to buy a "Value" version of this card (same manufacturer but a few dollars cheaper) but I read on Dell boards that this card will not work with the Dell Vostro line. So I bought this version as I've used it with Dell (it's an XPS now but I'll be porting the card to my Vostro 410 in a few months). Very easy installation - just plug into a free slot, turn on power. , and a new hardware wizard appeared. There are 2 drivers for XP on the CD - not sure of the difference (if any)…

Pros
  • Parallel port cards

So far so good for computer components

This article appears to be a 'premium' version of another article that has already received mostly positive reviews from Revain. I chose this item partly because it exceeded the free shipping threshold. Another reviewer claimed that Windows recognized the device immediately without having to install the provided drivers. He also pointed out that it might not work with older parallel devices whose drivers can't handle 'virtual ports'. So I made this purchase with some hesitation as my machine…

Pros
  • I/O connector cards

  • Blunt hardware
