I didn't, worked by just finding it out of the box and it's big enough to fit the King KDS water stone which is a pretty good stone. Just bought 5 more of these holders. We use them to hold our DMT bricks (Dia-Sharp 8x3). Please note that we do not attempt to use one holder for all of our stones, therefore placing stones in one holder is a one time offering. We use 50/50 pure green concentrate with water as the cutting fluid and have no rust problems. However, stainless steel rods and nuts would be a great addition and only slightly more expensive.
