I liked what I saw when I first opened the box. When I looked closely at the quality of these bits, I found that they were below average. The cutting edges are rough milled with burrs on all cutting edges. The first hole I drilled wasn't exactly clean. The circumferential cutting edge does not reach the surface before the drill edge touches the wood, resulting in breakage at the point of entry. These bits bored out quickly, but I expected them to cut cleaner. i give them back
Reasonable price, excellent quality. The package arrived intact, the box was undamaged. The only thing I REALLY don't like is that the 1/4" bit doesn't have a hex shank. It's round. There's no reason for that and it's practically unsuitable for my old Stanley bijade. .Only used on Douglas Fir , but the holes were drilled quickly and stayed round. The lead screw was more than enough to get the job done. Bottom line, I would buy this set again. and was pleasantly surprised.
For the money the drills in this set appear to be of decent quality having only been used once since receiving them earlier in the week. My biggest complaint, for which the product received 3 stars (C-), relates to the packaging of the products and the delivery from the supplier Steelex. When I got home the other day, I had three orders from Revain on my doorstep. Two of these were packaged in regular Revain branded boxes and the third (this product) was just the main product packaging (VERYβ¦
