I have been a professional carpenter for 50 years. This Steelex Plus bit is the best ground, balanced and sharpest bit I have ever used. So when I needed a dowel bit I couldn't find anything better than "Steelex Plus" - theirs high quality drill bits are made in Austria, this 3/8" bit is made in China but it cuts just as well as all Steelex bits I have drilled literally thousands of holes and ALL my Steelex bits drill at least 500 holes in mostly hardwoods like Hickory, Purple Heart, and even Bloodwood (that's three times harder than Red Oak).
