It does not work on my review.

I got this for both my son and his cousin. The solar panel did not work on either. The kids still enjoyed building the different things. The disappointment in my sons face when it would move no mater what we did, was heart breaking.

Pros
  • 2115
Cons
  • Not as durable as advertised

Neat toy if you have the patience

Review by my 10 year old: This toy is ok. When it worked it was very cool and the directions were easy to follow. It took a super long time to get it to work and when it did work, it did not work that well. We figured out at some point that it was because of a tiny bump on one of the gears that was preventing the parts from connecting the way they needed to. We fixed it by filing off the bump with a nail file. The head of the toy also kept coming off and is super hard to get back on. In the…

Learning toys - my new review

I gave this stem toy to my nephew as a Christmas gift. I wanted him to learn and play at the same time. He really liked it.Comes with solar panels to run on outside, but you can also put batteries in it. You can make quite a few different robots with the kit. It's made very well and seems to be holding up

Pros
  • It’s very small . The picture makes it look much bigger .
Cons
  • Plastic pieces are prone to breaking

Great gift for kids who like puzzles and technology.

It takes a lot of time and attention to detail to put it together. Outside of that this is an amazing product, fantastic value for the price. It will definatly be the best gift they get.

Pros
  • Basically it what it is.
Cons
  • Definitely not easy to assemble and it more for tech savvy folks or kids that are in their teens

Great Birthday Present Idea!

Bought this as a birthday present for my 8yo nephew and he loved it! The fact that he could independently put this together made it a lot easier on parents too. As soon as he opened it he started putting together all the different pieces/projects. It was good for learning about solar power also, because most 8yo don’t understand that concept. Great learning STEM toy!

Pros
  • Very hard to put to together
Cons
  • Limited color options

Fun project even though a bit challenging

Fun project. Bought it to ensemble with my 6 year old son. Too advanced for him by himself. Parts are small, we had a bit of a challenging time. But the end product was great.

Pros
  • I bought this for my boyfriends son for his birthday. It turned out to be a great father son project.
Cons
  • Prone to malfunctioning

Great product on my review.

I purchased this 8 months back for my friends daughter. She struggled with it initially and didn't know what to do with it because she was a bit too young for this toy. But over the months she persisted with it and learned to use it. And she was so proud of her achievement that she sent me snaps of what she created. I would recommend this to challenge young kids.

Pros
  • Encourages children to learn about solar power and clean energy
Cons
  • Not for children with short attention spans

Great gift - my new review

I bought this for my 9 year old grandson and with the help from his dad, he put it together. And it works. They went outside on a sunny day and the robot worked. He really enjoys it.

Pros
  • Develops project management skills
Cons
  • Easily breakable pieces

Defective Solar Panel

The defective solar panel is unable to turn the gears. In sunlight my voltmeter shows very little voltage from the panel with the motor disconnected. I then measured the voltage in more intense light, all with the motor disconnected. With a high-intensity LED flashlight (390 lumens), only about 1 volt is produced. With a 1100 lumen table light only an inch away, only 1.07 volts are produced. In both these cases if I connected the motor instead of the voltmeter, the gears didn't turn at all or…

Pros
  • Provides an opportunity for parents to learn alongside their children
Cons
  • Easily forgotten by kids

Great for inquisitive children

I bought this product as a gift for my grandson. He enjoys things like legos and kinects so this was right up his alley. He not only enjoyed building different contraptions, he also really enjoyed powering his creations with solar energy. Great building and educational toy.

Cons
  • Not very aesthetically pleasing

My little cousin loved building it! It gave him hours of entertainment with the different builds. It was hard at first to put in and take out the fittings on the robot, but he figured it out!

  • Promotes team building and collaboration
Cons
  • Not as advanced as other robotics kits

Tough to assemble, but sturdy

Bought this for our son for Christmas. I ended up having to help him build it and struggled to do so myself.I’m hoping that with more sunlight he will be able to use it more.

Pros
  • Toys & Games
Cons
  • Too simplistic for advanced builders

Educational gift for kids

It was fun for my kid to assemble it however is not able to make it work. It was not very easy to assemble especially pulling each pieces from the plastic dye. Kids who like lego would love doing it but this takes to the next level.

Pros
  • Provides a fun and educational activity that can be enjoyed by children of all ages
Cons
  • Not an impressive addition to a child's collection

Decent for the price

As a parent I thought it was cool, my preteen thought it was ok! He is a kid that loves legos so I thought I would give this a try.

Pros
  • Got this for my son who loves to build. He loved the face that the sun made it move.
Cons
  • Not enough moving parts

Great stem gift.: my feedback

My son absolutely loved getting this for Christmas. He is a very hands on teenagers and I thought this would be the best gift for him. He has yet to build it because he is a super safe kid and waiting for his dad to come back from deployment to help him. He loved seeing on the box that he can make different items. This is a great gift for any teenager that loves stem activities and building things. Also perfect for in San Diego were we get lots of sun shine.

Pros
  • Can be a great family bonding activity
Cons
  • Limited number of projects to build

Fun and interactive

I did this with campers over a virtual camp (ages 9-12). Some of the campers really struggled with putting it together without someone with them to help. I recommend having an adult present to work with any youth that might need extra help. Nevertheless, the overall product was fun to assemble and worked great! I loved the different options. Some are a bit more difficult than others to assemble, but overall this is a great activity for youth.

Pros
  • Our 9 year old grandson had fun putting this together but it was very difficult and needed adult help.
Cons
  • Expensive for what it is

Bottleboom Solar Power Robot

Great toy for my 8 year old boy. He loves building things especially this toy. Very easy to assemble. I would recommend purchasing.

Pros
  • Improves logical reasoning and critical thinking
Cons
  • Not enough options for complexity

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great but an assembly tool is needed.

Would have been a 5 star if the assembly tool had been included. Thank goodness my brother in law and nephew in law had the tool in their tool boxes.

Pros
  • I think parents should be aware that it is likely a "do together" item
Cons
  • Incomplete set without additional parts

Perfect for tween boy

Gave this to my son as a Christmas present. He loves it. He (11 yo) was able to assemble it with just a little help. He has enjoyed playing with it, so far it has held up well.

Pros
  • Provides a unique and challenging DIY experience
Cons
  • Not challenging enough for experienced builders
