Complete joint replacement is not required on most older Subarus vehicles. Instead, just rubber bushings. The roll pin isn't worth the trouble unless you completely disengage the transmission. I used bushings from the joint in my old one and it worked fine. Fixed side-to-side rattle (but not up and down). I had a lot of fun and learned a lot about how parts move in a car.
