Worked well as a replacement for my broken original key fob. A note: on the original circuit board, make sure you gently pry all four flat battery contacts together with the contact that touches the side of the battery. Worked for me from 1/32 to 1/8 inch. I made four and made no side contact. That does not work. I opened it up again and made side contact, that solved the problem.

If, like me, you make cars last longer than they used to (they last longer and who wants to buy a new car when yours works as well as it did when you bought it) and your key fob has seen better days. This replacement shell is a DIY ticket. Great value for money, identical look and fit. Why not replace what looks like it has been washed and dried multiple times with one that will look and feel like new again?

At first the remote control didn't work. The battery is kind of loose in the case, and the case is a bit thicker than my old one. The graphic that made me buy it because mine was gone is really good. Only so many times could my wife push the button to lock the car and the tailgate would open before it was "my fault"! It turns out that the new one has plastic ribs to hold the battery in place (the old one didn't) but the ribs are in the wrong place. Trial and error has shown that the tolerances for the battery side are not what they should be compared to the OEM case. Confirmed this with the new side of the button and the old side of the OEM battery and it worked. Not so with the new battery compartment. The two plastic pads didn't quite fit together with a good seal, so I had to scrape the inside of the groove a bit with a blade. Comparing the old and new cases, the protruding plastic ring around the battery is thicker on the new case, so I had to scrape it off with a knife. Once I did that it sealed well and suddenly the device worked much better. Now the buttons are much easier to press and they are more responsive. Replacing the back cover is what I was looking for, not the entire case. As you can see in photo number one, in an effort to cut costs, GM removed the PCB battery holder and instead used the back of the key fob as the battery holder. Really bad design because the back of the case has a stress defect and will crack for no reason. Once the back is cracked, the key fob will no longer work. Just what I needed, I had two key fobs and they were so worn you couldn't see which buttons worked. After opening this up and replacing the battery, I noticed that the backs of the rubber buttons seemed to be very worn, so I figured they just weren't touching.
