Good kit, second fan didn't work

Nice case, not the highest quality but for the price who can complain? Good range of parts and parts to make it work in many applications. I'm glad there were two fans in the case as one of them wasn't working. For the price, it's not worth the hassle of sending it back.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • New competitors appeared

Ideal for GPS system accessories

Perfect fit for my Stratux project. I wish it was a little bigger for the antenna dongles and for the GPS cable outlet. I would recommend going white as I didn't take into account the warmth drawn in by black. An improvement would be a permanent mounting bracket, allowing it to be removed from the aircraft when not in use.

Pros

Cons
  • High price

Sturdy, high-quality body.

Very impressed with the fit of this bag. Everything fits snugly and closes tightly, and the plastic seems very strong. The only downside is that it doesn't have any built-in windows through which you can see the Pi's status LEDs, but it's easy to cut out two notches with a rotary tool (like me) or a hacksaw blade.

Pros
  • Keeping my fists
Cons
  • Protection

The second fan is a good idea, but causes problems.

The USB fan is noisy and interferes with GPS reception. So I had to delete it, resulting in a lot of wasted space. Attaching the battery to the back panel works but is sloppy. As a CFO, I move from plane to plane so it has to live in my pocket. And space in the price. This is a great starting point, but I'm looking for alternatives.

Pros
  • Robust surface

  • Not sure

Works but included suction cup and second fan don't work very well

Case works everything fits. The included plastic suction cup is useless and keeps falling off no matter how clean the window is. I simply taped the case to the windows with double sided tape and it hasn't come off since. The second fan is sometimes annoying. It will make this horrible sound like it's standing/stuck, touch it lightly and the sound will go away.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Poor kit

does not fit the latest Stratux parts; USB fan won't turn on Pi

This case will not fit - the antenna hole is too wide for the smaller SDR Stratux dongle with all the standard Stratux parts. I had to drill a new hole an inch below the existing one to fix this problem. The Stratux would also not turn on with most of my USB batteries/adapters until I unplugged the Summitlink USB fan. The USB fan is either shorted or is drawing too much current on the USB bus, preventing the Raspberry Pi from turning on.

Use BOTH FANS and GPYes!

I just finished building a Stratux with two Summitlink V2 fans in black. The big news is that you can use both fans! You don't have to remove any of the USB inputs. Summitlink changed the fan connector from a bulky USB connector to a thin connector that plugs into the USB port next to the GPYes. I used PilotJo's YouTube Stratux build as a test run as it used the same components as the Summitlink V2 Dual Fans case. I noticed the fan connector was different and left it as he removed his. The fan…

Good choice for StratuX case

All parts of the StratuX assembly fit very well in this case. With the Raspberry Pi 3B and SDR approaching the maximum allowable current for a micro USB port, with all the voltage drops that come with it, I figured I could save power by not running two fans at full speed. I do not recommend fan power from almost overloaded USB ports. Easy to fix, just extend the fan wires and connect them to the 5V GPIO header pins. To reduce current draw, four 10 ohm 1/8w 5% carbon film resistors were soldered

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

Ideal for Stratux receivers with some added extras

This kit contains items not found in other kits. Velcro and fasteners can be very handy. There is a 1/4" x 20 thread on the bottom that fits a camera tripod mount. Another handy feature. A couple of minor issues: There are no screws to mount the Raspberry Pi in the kit. It's fine , You have 2 days Find #4 screws 3/8" before it arrives. Second, you are told to connect the fan to pins 4 and 6 of the GPIO, but are not told which end to count from. It's easy enough with a google search to get the…
