Adjustable Cheese Slicer by Sunbeam Review

years ago I had a cute simple cheese slicer. This one was designed in a similar style. Bigger and not as easy to cut as my first cutter. I'm incompetent in the kitchen so I don't think the cutter is inferior. Others in my family have used it and been happy.

I had an old version of about 20 years that finally broke. I bought 2 identical slicers which broke straight away so I was very happy to find another one here just like my old one. It wasn't until I received it that I realized it was now cheaply made. I expected it to be heavier than the old one. It seems to be working well, but we'll see how long it lasts.

I bought this because I've had the same thing for years and loved it. It's not the same; it's much lighter and doesn't feel very strong. The adjustment is weak; You have to make sure it's straight. This is fine with softer cheeses, Monterey Jack, and soft cheddar, but struggles with sharper cheddar. The wire seems to be taut; I don't think it will take long. AND - IT DOES NOT COME WITH THE EXTRA WIRE AS SPECIFIED!
