Good quality. Spins the engine easily.

We have used this stand twice for engine overhauls. A very good quality. Turned a large turbocharged engine 360 degrees with ease.

Upgrade to the Best Engine Stand

This is the engine stand you need. The Harbor Fraud Thing is cheap and will help you if that's all you can afford. This is much easier to work with and much easier to turn when assembling the motor.

  • A Dream Come True
Cons

Sturdy, well built and easy to use

This is a great update for my old DIY motor stand. The block is very well made and very stable. The rotating worm drive is great. Gone are the days when the engine block was manually turned upside down from the vertical. Another great thing is that you can stop at any point in the block's rotation for optimal access. Another accessory I recommend is a plastic catch tray made specifically for the stand. All in all, this is a great addition to my home shop.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Pretty much everything is fine

Great motor mount - good quality and easy to use

I bought this motor mount as my old Harbor Freight couldn't properly support my cast Pontiac 400 motor on all sides of the motor which is why I bought this Sunex block. I have a great gearbox that easily cranks the whole engine. My only criticism of this unit is that it doesn't fold easily (as advertised) without removing a screw on the corner bracket. If it was a hitch pin like the lower ones on the post it would fold up easily.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Slightly torn

However very well built.

I just received and assembled the motor stand. It's very well built; strong, solid and simple. My only complaint is that the company is really stingy with closures. You get just enough bolts, washers, and nuts to assemble it. Do yourself a favor and grab an extra handful of 5/16 flat washers, 1/2 flat washers and four 1/2 lock washers. It will look and feel better. In addition, pump lubricant into two mirrors; it turns much easier, smoother and quieter. Also, the disassembly diagram shows that…

  • Definitely a bad product

Much better than my old stand with no gear

The gear allows the motor to spin easily without outside help or without it just falling off. This is a must have for any store. Just don't forget to lubricate the gearbox first, as it's low on lube. A bit pricey compared to non-geared racks, but well worth it. The price is better than others I've looked at. My only complaint is that the fingers where the bolts go to the motor are such an odd length that you need very unusually long bolts, which your hardware store most likely won't have. I had
