Replacement for Chicago Electric

I purchased this to replace a faulty switch in a Harbor Freight miter saw after finding a recommendation online. It works well and like most others who have done this exchange have found that the wiring is different and the saw handle needs to be changed. Not sure if it's worth the time and effort sorting out the wiring and cutting out the handle rather than buying a new saw, but if you have the time it will work. Item is as described and arrived undamaged within a day or two.

Powered by Dewalt DW705

Just hooked up to an old Dewalt miter saw (DW705 Type 1) and it works like clockwork. This involves removing some of the plastic from the original handle (this is easy to do with a Dremel tool). Refer to the schematic, no splicing of existing wiring is required, but the pin orientation is slightly different from Eaton's OEM switch. I'm glad this old $11.50 saw is working again. There are videos on Youtube showing what Dewalt miter saws are all about. "Believe me, it's easier (and $40 cheaper)…

I brought this switch because of one of the other reviewers.

I selected this switch because one of the other reviewers said it would work with a 10 inch saw purchased from Harbor Freight. I was able to get it working by modifying the saw handle a bit and changing the wiring, but it was worth it as Harbor Ffright said there were no spares available. old. Also, there are four wires attached to the original switch, and the new switch needs to have the wires swapped. Sounds complicated, but it really isn't, and well worth the 20 minutes it takes to get it…

Repaired my old Chicago Electric miter saw (45885)

The switch worked great on my old Chicago Electric miter saw (45885). I had to widen the hole in the handle a bit to accommodate this switch. My only criticism is that Revain and/or its suppliers are very bad at describing how the contacts on these switches work. For my saw I needed a normally open (NO) pair of contacts (saw performance) and a normally closed (NC) pair. A pair of break contacts close when the switch is released, allowing the back EMF current in the motor to quickly stop the…
