Previously the product was twice the size and real sand. Now it's dust, half as much, but it costs more. This dust is fatal to hamsters. Three days after using his product, two of my hamsters died. I performed an autopsy on one of them and the vet said her lungs were full of dust and the cause of death was oxygen starvation due to respiratory depression from the dust!

I love this sand! It's great and my hamsters love it :) Love the light golden color and nice texture. TO EDIT! THE SAND HAS CHANGED! IT'S NOT SAND, IT'S DUST! WHAT IS THIS COMPANY THINK? DUST IS NOT SAFE FOR HAMSTERS AND THIS IS MARKED AS SAND NOT DUST IT IS MEDIUM. FIRST THIS COMPANY CHANGED THE FOOD FOR LOADER HAMSTERS, AND NOW THIS? ARE YOU TRYING TO LOSE MONEY?

Very dissatisfied with this product, they have changed it since my last order - it used to be very good sand suitable for hamsters but now it is very dusty which is bad for their lungs. From the reviews I can see I just ordered it when the changes came in I ran out of the old product and opened my new one tonight. I will not order this brand again.

I bought this item about a year ago when it was under $10 and was called SAND. I ran out of the last pack so I bought a new one. The price went up and when I got it it was gray and dusty. I hesitated, but I knew my cat loved sand, so I let her use it. She's only been using the new dust for a few days and I wake up to see that she's dead. I noticed that she also had gray sand on her nose. I think that sand killed her because it was the only new change I made to her house. NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT!

I used to love this sand and would recommend it to anyone! When I first opened the new package, I could tell that it was a different formula. It was gray instead of the typical light brown sand. When I threw it out, there was some dust in the air. I was worried but it wasn't TOO dusty so I figured it would be fine. My one year old hamster loves his sand. She was potty trained almost immediately. She played, dug and threw herself into the bowl niche when I had to take her out to freshen up the sand. I have been using this sand for my dwarf hamster for 7 months. She loves it! At first I was worried that she would swallow it but there were no problems at all. She uses it as a potty and when I put new sand in it she likes to roll around in it. She has a 3 tier cage and I will watch her going from top to bottom to use the potty.
