FRESH SPICES: Once spices are ground, they begin to oxidize and quickly start to lose their potency. Making regular use of a grinder for your coarse salt or peppercorn will provide fresh spices and raise your standards for food preparation. A small to medium sized mill is best for a home kitchen because the spices tend to lose their flavor as they age, and you do not want to leave them sitting around in a large one for too long. The clear plastic bodies will tell you when it is time to refill. CERAMIC MECHANISM GREAT FOR SALT: These ceramic mills are best to crush Himalayan, pink, Celtic, or grey salts, since salt is not as compatible with metal grinding parts. Even corrosion-resistant metal will not be as long-lasting for the purpose of grinding salt as a ceramic mill would be. COARSENESS SETTINGS: A truly superior quality pepper-mill which allows the user to change the fineness or coarseness of the grind, based upon the recipe requirements and the chef's needs. Just turn the knob clockwise to a tighter position for a finer grind and counterclockwise to a looser position for a coarser grind. Just say no to batteries

We've had batteries and we've always recharged them. The new ones work great and don't require batteries. However, you must of course use salt and pepper.

Looks great on the table! Shake a little just right, grind a lot just right! What does "purity" mean here? (review question) Should last a long time, would buy again as a gift.

works with himalayan salt

Had to replace several coffee grinders because they can't handle himalayan sea salt. This seems to be working fine. Good size for a table. The grind is adjustable, which is a plus.

Attractive document shredder set.

Easy to fill and easy to use salt and pepper mill set. I especially like using it when eating al fresco. (small and easy to carry) It seems to sand unevenly but does the job well enough.

So easy to use! I first bought one from Walmart that had a black "lid" and it was so hard to grind the salt! It's a breeze and doesn't feel "stuck" like the others. I also love it because it matches my stainless steel appliances! Very good!

Exactly what we needed. Easy to use, grinds well.

Perfect for our needs. Easy to hold and rub with arthritic hands. The stand is convenient to carry to the patio, porch, etc. when you are not eating in the kitchen or dining room. Good size for enough salt and pepper. Easy to fill and adjust the degree of grinding. We bought this to replace an old set of a different style and are very happy with it.

I recommend! The Best Salt and Pepper Mill Sets

This is awesome. After dropping and breaking a larger glass set of salt and pepper grinders, I searched for a plastic set that didn't look cheap or, well, plastic. Pepper, unlike other grinders I've had that leave larger chunks. (Pink Himalayan salt works great in this, I know this is an issue with some grinders!) The stand also looks great and keeps them secure when carried to and from the table. This set is such a simple, sleek, durable (and affordable!) addition to my kitchen.
