Flimsy Build Fails to Secure Drives

Based on my experience, this hard drive enclosure is terrible. The lightweight plastic casing offers little protection and failed to hold my drive securely in place. The enclosure also lacks proper ventilation, causing my computer to overheat. The only positive aspect is the ease of installation. However, the cons far outweigh the pros. Save yourself the hassle and invest in a better quality product.

Pros
  • Easy installation and setup
Cons
  • Requires a screwdriver to open and close the enclosure, which can be inconvenient for some users.

Excellent RAID: Works with 16 Tera, but cooling problems.

It has some excellent issues such as installation and reliability with excellent workmanship. Cooling, however, is a different issue: the front panel blocks cooling for the top two drives, it has a single exhaust fan, and some idiot put a screen on the front grille. This design assumes that if the screen gets clogged, there will be no exhaust and your expensive Tera rims will burn out. I removed the screen and attached two front ejection fans without the front cover; Now it works perfectly…

Pros
  • Supports all brands of 2.5" and 3.5" SATA I/II/III hard drives up to 16TB per drive, up to 5 x 16TB with a maximum support of 80TB.
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Not working as expected

I moved 5 hard drives from another case. Everything works fine in there. No RAID. Errors are displayed on the front panel. I tested each drive by connecting it directly to a PC and a USB to SATA adapter. No problems or bugs of any kind. The same disc that is inserted in this case cannot be read. I'm not sure what the cause is, but a drive that reports bad works fine as a standalone drive. All drives are either Seagate or WD. Was used to use Yottamaster (which came back due to constant reboots).

Pros
  • The eSATA interface requires a FIS-based switching port multiplier on the host computer to allow simultaneous access to multiple hard drives.
Cons
  • Expensive
