Great Price PCI USB Card - UPDATED

This card was recognized immediately by Windows XP and is working as expected. This was for my old Gateway computer that only had two USB 2.0 ports. It's nice to have a few more USB 2.0 ports. I say a few more (not exactly 5) because this card actually shares the first and second ports and also shares the fourth (outer) port with the fifth (inner) port. This review is about 2 USB 5-port PCI cards (SYBA SD-VIA-5U 5-port card and Sabrent SBT -ALI5Y 5-port card) and 3 PCs (an old Compaq 5838 with 500MHz AMD, an old HP 6465 with 433MHz Celeron and an ancient fossil computer with 166MHz Pentium I). The SYBA card was purchased with an internal 4-port SYBA hub for use with the Compaq 5838. The 5838 originally came with 4 USB 1.1 ports, which proved annoying in some situations. The Sabrent card was acquired for use in the Fossil. Initially, the Fossil

Great for an old school Mac

Purchased specifically to add USB 2.0 ports to a PPC G4 MDD case I bought two weeks ago. The system only had two USB 1.1 ports on the tower and two as part of the hub on the ADC monitor. Using a Wireless-N WiFi USB adapter, I only got 3.5 Mbps download speeds and found that the USB speed was the limiting factor. And I was right! Installing the card was as simple as lowering the door, unscrewing the connector cover, inserting the card into the slot, and screwing it down. After rebooting, OS X…
