Almost from the start my Synology DS918+ was unstable and often froze for no apparent reason. Eventually it got to the point where the storage pool would fail and no volume would be available. I'm still waiting to get out of infant mortality. The module has arrived, been marked as advertised (genuine Synology DDR3 memory), installed, passed the smoke test, and is registering the correct NAS memory upgrade to 8GB in the DSM dashboard. Looks like I got what I bought and wanted.

First, not the best price for a 4GB RAM module, but that's what you get with the manufacturer's part. On the other hand, both RAM modules in my DS918+ are identical and do not void the warranty. The NAS immediately recognized the additional 4 GB. Excellent purchase!

I confess that I was very hesitant to buy this RAM because it is overpriced. The only reason I did this is because I'm using a Synology NAS, which is also my home/work NAS and the only officially supported RAM module. I didn't want an apology from Synology if my NAS went down, and I didn't want to risk it because apparently some RAM modules would cause problems. Usually people buy Crucial RAM which seems to work fine for this NAS with little to no issues but I wanted everything to be official…
