Coolest product I've ever bought for my truck. To be honest I never thought this product could exist until I found it. I would advise you to follow the instructions exactly or you might get in trouble. Installation took about 45 minutes. It's been on my truck for about 6 months and I haven't had any issues with this product.

Installed on a 2001 F-150. The cylinder is not under pressure and therefore does not help with lifting. Dampening is minimal, so if you drop the gate it'll still slam, just softer than factory. It will probably be better on a cold day, but will be worse on a hot day, now it's around 80 degrees. Installation was easy, about 15 minutes, but I'm an experienced mechanic.

I have just purchased and installed this product. I had it on my last truck and was thrilled. After installing it seems to me that the gas boost should be stronger, I checked online and even a green box appeared at the top of the screen saying its suitable for my 2008 F2008 Superduty. When I lower the tailgate it doesn't go down as slowly as it should, don't get me wrong, it's better than not having one. However, on my last truck you can let go of the tailgate when lowering and it opens slowly,

'04 F-350 Superduty Long Double Bed. I put one on each side because two is better than one in this case. Half the stress on the joints and pistons equates to longer product life. 2 = slower than 1, which others have complained about being too fast. I just had to drill a larger hole on the passenger side to fit a bushing type. The centering of the tailgate rubber must also be cut off on both sides.
