Ignore the best numbers in Test, Measure & Inspect

The numbers meant to tell you when this turns on and off don't even come close to real-world temperatures. I had to use my Fluke thermometer to get the actual temperature.

Ignore the Numbers: Temperature Controller

The numbers that are supposed to tell you when this turns on and off don't even come close to the actual temperature. I had to use my Fluke thermometer to get the actual temperature.

Pros
  • Test, measure, and test
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

The thermostat on our Panasonic oil heater has failed - I have not been able to find a direct replacement part. I bypassed it to be on all the time, but that overheated and actually tripped the circuit breaker. The heater is good - and now it's over $100 so I was dying to get it fixed. I thought I could get it working with some mods, but it turned out to be a near-perfect replacement. The shaft is of equal length; It fits the existing dial and the included dial fits the heater fitting so either

Pros
  • Temperature Controller
Cons
  • Unfashionable
