The thermostat on our Panasonic oil heater has failed - I have not been able to find a direct replacement part. I bypassed it to be on all the time, but that overheated and actually tripped the circuit breaker. The heater is good - and now it's over $100 so I was dying to get it fixed. I thought I could get it working with some mods, but it turned out to be a near-perfect replacement. The shaft is of equal length; It fits the existing dial and the included dial fits the heater fitting so either dial can be used. Additionally, the existing mounting holes are almost perfect for mounting the thermostat - widen the heater's mounting holes by 1/16" with a drill and it's a perfect replacement. The sensor must be installed near the heating elements and placed in the most suitable place to open/close the heating circuit without burning the switch.
