This is a good box. I like the hard lines it is.

Nice box. I love the clean lines it leaves unlike a standard Stanley box or other classic branded box we are all familiar with. The only downside I find with this box is its size. It's very thick and takes up space in my tool belt. I have included photos comparing this box to my Stanley (Bostich) box and photos of the two chalk lines. The black lines are Tajima with Tajima black paint and the blue lines are Stanley with Stanley blue chalk. I recommend this product, just wish it wasn't so bulky.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • Hard to say

Good chalk line as long as it lasts

I bought this less than a year ago and I love it. months it no longer rolls up. It started a few months ago when the gears started slipping, then it got harder to reel in, and now I have about 20 feet of line and it won't reel in at all. I've been in the construction industry for 30 years and own almost all of the chalk lines, some of which I still own. All of them have lasted many years except for the cheap $5 plastic cords and now this $30 Tajima. Don't waste your money

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Frequency

Great performance, bad lines.

I don't know what's wrong with my chalk line, but the chalk is missing. I tried tapping it, loosening the thread, adding less or more chalk, but the lines were pretty faint. I tried Irwin and Tajima Chalk (overpriced btw). He was never wet or anything. It was so straight out of the box. I really want to find out what's wrong because I like it better than the Milwaukee aluminum spool I replaced. This one has a nice locking feature, the hook can be attached to the body of the reel and I can…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes

  • Minor problems

Best chalk line I've used

I love the quality of this chalk line, it's strong and feels good in the hand. The folding arm is good too. It leaves a hard, clean and bright line when used with Tajima brand fine chalk. The lock is a nice feature, keeps the cord in place so it doesn't get tangled and leave chalk in pockets. One thing I've noticed after 3 months of daily use that might be helpful to a new user is that when I pull the line as tight as I would with standard chalk lines, the line doesn't stay as clean or fully…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

The best latch line.

I don't know who Tajima is, but I think it's a Japanese company. I can tell you that they build great instruments. This chalk box is the best I have used in this business in 45 years. It's durable, fast rewinding, and easy to refill. Just pay attention to the line thickness. They form a thin line and a thick line. Thin is great for thin shop lines, but breaks too easily with a 50 foot line pull. I just bought 2 more boxes. A blue and a red for this chalk paint. I use Irwins chalk and have had…

  • Easy installation
