Have 30GB 5th gen. Turn iPod into a 256GB monster!

Works great! There are great videos showing you how to replace these hard drives. I bought and installed an SDXC adapter and a new battery in my very old 5th gen 30GB iPod that had a drive failure a few years ago. With a 256GB micro SD card, the iPod works like clockwork! It also has longer battery life. It is well made and fits the inside of the iPod perfectly. My music collection is over 185GB, so it's too big for a 160GB iPod. This update has removed this limitation. IMPORTANT NOTE. Keep in…

Works great with memory card adapters

Used in an old iPod Video to replace a 30GB drive with a 256GB SD card. The hardest part is opening the iPod, but before you try, watch a few YouTube videos. The actual installation of the card was easy. I then had to use a pre-Mojave Mac to install the iPod OS (not sure how Windows iTunes would handle that) and then download 5000 lossless Apple songs onto the card. I've read that the iPod can't handle that many songs and may need a replacement for the RockBox OS, but mine worked fine as a pure

Would have done it sooner

When the iPod came out with videos and had 80GB of storage, I could put a whole library of 160-256kbps music, podcasts and clips on it. I've since switched to lossless music compression and had to choose what music to take with me. By replacing a spinning hard drive with this adapter and pairing it with a 256GB SD card, I can take more of my library with me. Not my entire library, but a lot more. Could have used a larger card or multi card adapter but I love the iPod software and don't want to…

Great upgrade for iPod Classic 6th generation

This is the second time I have upgraded my iPod storage. TL; DR - If you are looking for an easy way to get rid of the standard iPod ceramic disc, this SD card reader combined with a fast SD card is what you need. The hardest part is opening iPod to update. I updated my iPod Photo with a CF card reader and it worked, but when you want to use Rockbox on your iPod, for some reason it doesn't work with CF card installation and crashes. However, this CD to SD card adapter works very well with…

My iPod Classic is alive!

My iPod Classic 160GB hard drive is dead for good! When I discovered the SDXC adapter I just had to try it and it worked! Removing the metal casing from the back of the iPod wasn't easy, but once I removed it, I was able to turn off the drive with no problems. The tool kit that came with the adapter definitely helped loosen the back. When I finished installing the adapter, I restarted the iPod with iTunes and Viola! I was able to sync my library with no problems. If you don't count the time to…
