For the price and quality

Right price, right quality, known brand. Used to display and monitor the air conditioner outlet temperature. Could have focused a little more on a narrower temperature range (0-75°F), but is fine for this purpose. The truck enters the 120F+ zone under the sun in northern Alabama.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • not satisfied with everything

Good basic thermometer

This thermometer can be calibrated in an ice bath (foam beaker) and is as accurate as a digital device without batteries. I have a real meat thermometer in my kitchen and it has never let me down. This one will ride my bike to measure the air temp when not in HVAC mode. I would have preferred a slimmer case with a pocket clip without a right angle holder, but others may not. [action never accepted]

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

Suitable for inspecting meat if you have good eyesight.

The probe is non-magnetic, so most likely stainless steel (that's good). The problem I have is that the dial is only about 3/4" in diameter. This makes it very difficult to read unless you're only a few inches from it (which isn't so good). Calibration (that's good) It's not very reproducible (not very good) Taylor is a well-known toolmaker, but this little tool isn't useful to me at all.

Pros
  • Waiting
Cons
  • Negative imprint
