Christmas gift for my opinion

The auger arrived on time in adequate, but not wasteful, packaging. There was a surprise bonus of some small plant tags. Although the auger appears substantially constructed, it was a Christmas gift and has not yet been used.

Pros
  • Made with a solid core shaft, this garden auger drill bit is built to last, even with frequent use
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use near sensitive underground water sources

Great bulb planter: my feedback

Great at what it was made for. It did pretty good in the clay I was working in, but if I hit a rock, even a tiny piece it would jam up. That could have been because my drill is not a big massive one, just a small battery operated one. I went through 3 batteries planting 60 bulbs, some in hard ground and some in soft garden dirt. The tool itself works great. I did notice if you are digging thought tall grass, that will slow it down, but if you stop and clean it off, it will be as good as new.

Pros
  • This worked perfectly for bulb planting and adding fertilizer near trees.
Cons
  • May not be very precise when drilling holes

Worked Great! - my new review

I used this to help plant 50 grass plugs. Marked out where I needed a hole, and simply drilled it. Worked great auguring out dirt with ease. I finished the 50 plugs in a matter of minutes. If I'd used a shovel or trowel I'd have been out there at least an hour. Glad I bought it.

Pros
  • Used this to plant 160 tree fertilizer spikes inRocky soil…held up fine!
Cons
  • Can be dangerous if not used properly

Easily planted 250+ bulbs!

Used this on my electric drill (long extension cord) and planted 250+ daffodil, tulip and crocus bulbs in beds and yard. Easy to use, easy to clean up after use. Can’t wait for Spring to see the results!

Pros
  • I use this to plant bulbs in my garden.
Cons
  • Can cause damage to underground pipes or cables

Great garden tool for my opinion

This makes digging in my clay soil so much easier. I have gotten rid of my bulb planting tool. Hands down way better with this.

Pros
  • Helped plant bulbs with ease. Good product.
Cons
  • Need to be careful when using near tree roots or rocks

Works better than hand digging.

Bought to do soil samples. Very helpful versus hand digging. Worked well. Had to go 12” deep. Now to try on some bulbs. Have 2 days this week maybe to plant. (I have terrible rocky soil - oldMining pit)

Pros
  • Used it to plant some smaller perennials. Will be great for tulip season.
Cons
  • Can be difficult to get the hang of for first-time users

Heavy Duty Auger for Drilling Holes for Planting!

Just ordered two back-ups for this auger. The first one I bought has lasted long (many, many holes dug for planting), and I want to be ready in case it does break, but there is no sign of this happening as of now! I highly recommend this auger for planting - it makes just the right size hole and eliminates digging a too-large hole unnecessarily, including using much less effort in the process!

Pros
  • This drill bit is easy to clean and maintain, which makes it a great addition to any gardener's toolkit
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in small gardening spaces

Save your hands and wrists

I wish I had looked for this before I dug a hundred holes by hand. I literally could not dig anymore as my hand was so chewed up and sore.Be smarter than me, just get this to begin with. A dug deeper holes in a third of the time.

Pros
  • Multi-purposes Drill Auger
Cons
  • Can take up more space than traditional gardening tools

Great tool for my opinion

This little are auger worked great in the rocky soil of northwest Montana and made landscape work so much easier. Not suitable for use in rocky or stony soil!

Pros
  • Works great
Cons
  • Not suitable for use in rocky or stony soil

Labor Saver! in my review

Having dug up and split our daffodils and tulips, we had hundreds of bulbs to deal with. After giving away as many as we could, we still had hundreds of bulbs to deal with. Hand planting the traditional way, with a trowel, was out of the question. Looking for a better, quicker, less labor intensive way, I found this. Simply a godsend! I planted several hundred bulbs over the course of a weeks time, working an hour or two each day. Can't say it still wasn't a lot of work, but I can say it…

Pros
  • Even novice gardeners can use this tool with ease, making it a great first investment for anyone looking to start a garden
Cons
  • Can produce excessive soil displacement

Drills holes in dirt

This works perhaps even a little better than I expected. It doesn't deal well with tree roots or rocks, but I wouldn't expect it to. It did make planting bulbs faster and easier than our earlier efforts.

Pros
  • Works great but make sure the soil mis moist.
Cons
  • Can be difficult to use in tight spaces

Easy to use for my opinion

Worked great a couple of times and then the end rounded off. It's still usable, but slips when put under a load. Was only used in beach sand.

Pros
  • Great for planting bulbs, torches, umbrellas etc
Cons
  • Can be difficult to control while drilling

Best for the price.

Decent for drilling a few holes. If you're doing drilling for a large project which requires many holes in hard soils, these are questionable in terms of longevity.

Pros
  • I planted 125 bulbs with them powered by a cordless drill in about 20 minutes.
Cons
  • May require additional tools or attachments to work properly

Works but not correct size

In all it is a useful tool and worked as needed. The only gripe I have on this is the hex. I couldn't find a socket that would fit it so it could attach it to a drill. I wanted to drill a hole for 2"x2" post and chose this for the correct diameter, but I also chose the shorter auger as I could attach a socket and extension to go deeper. Unfortunately I can't attach a socket that properly fits and extend my reach. I like the tool and will continue to use it, I do recommend it.

Pros
  • Efficient: This drill bit saves you energy so you can focus on other tasks, since it makes digging holes quick and effortless
Cons
  • Can take longer to plant multiple holes than traditional tools

Thistle roots.stand back

This auger was easy to fit on en electric drill. We tried it in prepared beds, soil amendments, and the soil of the great Rocky Mountains. It was much easier than the pick ax and shovel method to dig holes for plants. It performed well in all areas and will be used to destroy invasive thistle roots this summer.

Pros
  • Portable
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in areas with a lot of tree roots
