Learning Chinese painting b/c like, why not?

I've done western watercolor for a while, and I'm used to using really heavy, toothy paper for that. When I decided I wanted to try Chinese watercolor and discovered it would Chinese paint just didn't work out on western paper, I got this with trepidation.I was sure it would be too delicate and thin. But it's not! It's 100% perfect for Chinese painting. The paper is really thin, but it's also really strong. Additionally, you get a lot more than you'd think on seeing the package--because it's so

Pros
  • Used it for my final and everyone else was asked me to use a piece of it.
Cons
  • Takes a while to dry, increasing likelihood of smudging

Perfect for sumi-e.

This paper really works well with ink and watercolor brushes. Already reordered more. Perfect for sumi-e. May require additional time and patience to achieve desired results.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • May require additional time and patience to achieve desired results

Grreat paper, will be back for more !

Nice paper, will buy more again. Well made, perfect for practice and you can see tiny light lines which can help with calligraphy, they are not noticeable in art though. Paper holds up well to lots of water/paint. Mount on silicone back mounting to get rid of wrinkly look when art is finished. Someone made comment on this and its part of working on rice paper, really it will go away when you mount the rice paper and hot iron it. Youtube has videos on how to do this. This is a great paper used…

Pros
  • Exactly as described. Great quality and a pleasure to use.
Cons
  • May not be as precise or detailed as other types of brush sets

very dissappointe for my opinion

I purchased it for my dad's 82 years old birthday .it is so disappointed to see the paper . the paper quality is so bad that he can not white anything on it please do not treat your customer like this

Pros
  • once I got the paper work perfect thank
Cons
  • Not suitable for watercolor painting

the worst kind!: my feedback

if you are practicing suminagashi this paper is the worst choice!. it bleeds a lot, ruins your painting. i can suggest mulberry paper, or better sumi or calligraphy type of rice paper but stay away from this one!

Pros
  • Pricey paper. Only 35 sheets.
Cons
  • May require time and practice to achieve desired results

It Came Folded in my review

as to be expected, the paper is very thin. slightly thicker than toilet paper. My issue is that it was delivered late and came folded and creased.

Pros
  • This paper works well for Chinese brush painting.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with allergies to certain types of ink or materials

this is nice and everything but I still need the paper

Instead of getting the product described, I actually received a calligraphy KIT instead. It came with brushes, an inkwell, etc. this is nice and everything but I still need the paper.

Pros
  • Good quality
Cons
  • May take longer to dry than other types of ink

Am I picky or Is it a reasonable expectation?

This will be my first time using Rice Paper so I can't speak to the quality with any knowledgeable opinion, but it seems to be a quality paper. It's stronger than I expected it to be. My reason for deducting a star is because 10 or more pages had folded edges making them less than attractive. The paper envelope it is packaged in is a pretty thick/quality and attractive sleeve but they might consider a different package to reduce damage. I have some mixed media ideas to use these pages so that…

Pros
  • Good products
Cons
  • The brushes may become damaged if not stored properly

Half raw paper, good for landscapes, not good for calligraphy

This is half-cooked paper. Very thin. I wouldn't say its great for calligraphy, but good if you are painting and want the effect of ink running in th paper. I ordered 2 and its good for landscapes but not detailed painting. I wish it was thicker too

Pros
  • White and flawless good water absorption we like it very much
Cons
  • Very thin paper... can use for smaller jobs

Appears okay: my feedback

Arrived in good condition and appears okay, apart from some partial creasing on several sheets on top of set. I haven't tried using it yet. Sheets seem thinner than others I've used. Otherwise paper seems good. Good to have this size sheet.

Pros
  • Normal
Cons
  • Its quality is OK. Price is a little high......

Working for me for my opinion

Packaged flat in a inter-office like cardboard envelope. Worked well after I bought a piece of felt from Jo-Ann Fabrics. (Hint: newspaper does NOT work well!)

Pros
  • Love this product.
Cons
  • The ink can be difficult to remove from clothing or surfaces

It's calligraphy paper

I got this for a Chinese calligraphy class, and it worked really well. I recommend using a felt mat underneath to get your characters nice and crisp.

Pros
  • Handy item for protecting surface while doing ink brush calligraphy.
Cons
  • May bleed on certain types of paper, causing unwanted smudging

Works well on my review.

Nice paper for Chinese calligraphy. It absorbs the ink well. It’s a bit thin, the ink went through and onto my table. Maybe my ink was too runny.

Pros
  • Exactly perfect for my needs and was a reasonable cost.
Cons
  • I only received 2 out of 3 brushes. Otherwise good quality brushes.

It’s rice paper: my feedback

I guess for what it is, it is good. I suppose I was expecting something not soooo absorbent. It’s no good for regular inks That's my review.

Pros
  • love it for my crafting
Cons
  • Can be difficult to achieve certain types of lettering or design styles without additional practice

Calligraphy Paper in my review

The paper is ok but the envelope came with the circle to close (wing string around) is missing and flap is crushed. This is a Christmas gift.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • May not be compatible with certain types of ink cartridges or refill bottles

This paper arrived FOLDED . NOT GOOD!

I ordered this paper a certain length for a reason. Rather then rolled, as shown, it arrived FOLDED. I had to attempt to iron 100 sheets of paper so i could use it. Not okay. There was no time to return it, i preferred it for a lesson with my high school students.

Pros
  • WONDERFUL QUALITY FOR PRACTICE AND FOR PRICE.
Cons
  • The brushes may be difficult to clean thoroughly after use

Came very wrinkled good for me

Other reviews have mentioned this condition in which the paper arrived & some have said it was fine. Mine had been placed in the envelope where one corner on all the sheets was bent, & there was a crease right down the middle. While the paper itself is fine, it defeats the purpose if it has creases & folds. I purchased for replacing panels in a shoji screen but am not sure how I can use them now. I will try ironing w/ a special cloth & see.

Pros
  • Great product!
Cons
  • Ink may not dry evenly, leading to uneven strokes
