Kills Amphibians

later Be careful when using this on an amphibian. I have dart frogs. The previous UV lamp is broken. I stopped at this pear because of the high ratings and because of the "amphibians". An hour above the aquarium and I came to check, usually there are no frogs but there aren't this time. 2 dead the next day. You could probably live 10 years without light. Huge mistake. That's the heat of a nuclear reactor.

Not so expensive

I used more expensive UVA/UVB bulbs before they burned out after about 6 months, this one hasn't lasted long enough but it still burns. This happens every day from 10pm to 6am, my red-eared slider gets out of the water to her dock and uses it almost every night so there must be something good about it. * Will update the rating when it finally comes out

My kitty loves it!

I have an elderly indoor cat that loves to bask in the sun. In the Minnesota winter, we have very little sun. I have this for them to provide heat and UV. I installed it on a floor lamp next to our sofa and she loves lying underneath. The color of the light is pretty unattractive so I turn on the floor lamp at the same time to dim it and it works great. Will be updated if problems arise.
