Perfect solution for limited attic/loft space

This was the perfect solution to my problem of limited vertical and horizontal space above the attic opening. Be sure to pay attention to the vertical requirements from the attic to the floor below. Because the ladder is a fixed length and must be fully extended and locked to ensure safety, this dimension is critical. I had to raise the mounting surface a bit to make it work.

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Good but not great

It might work well, but I don't know

It might work well, but I don't know. I recently purchased a Telesteps ladder model 12ES. The 9180 work tray was advertised to work with Telesteps ladders but the round tray inserts do not fit the oval holes at the top of the ladder so I am returning the tray. This cannot be seen in the photos because the holes in the upper part of the stairs are sealed with rubber plugs. When I bought the ladder I thought I could attach a tray but I can't find any other tray model with oval inserts.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Some little things

Very easy install and perfect for my application

I have an attic in my garage with a custom opening that only supports three sides. We have used a standard framed ladder for years and it is only there on the rare occasions when we need access to the attic. We couldn't use standard attic ladders due to the way the attic was built (before we bought the house) and I spent a lot of time researching alternatives. I found this ladder after a long search and it was absolutely perfect. Installation was incredibly easy and involved 6 bolts in a 2x6…

  • Easy to read control panel

Great product - need clearer instructions

Recently bought for my garden shed. The distance from the floor to the bottom of the rafter is 96.5 inches, which is slightly over the size allowed for this ladder. Not specified or unclear in the description here on the site is the distance between the bottom of the rafter and the ground above. It seems to have been designed for a shorter distance than usual here in the States. I have a 2x6 rafter with 1/2" plywood on it. The bottom line is that I got it to work by setting the bracket to 2 x 6

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Compatibility

Worth importing from the UK. But the instructions are extremely poor.

Do not confuse this product with the American Telesteps floor ladder, I bought it in the UK. Cheaper even after delivery. That's barely enough for American 8-foot ceilings. So check it out. Great product but terrible instructions. They want you to hang it up while it's stretching. I suppose to make sure it lays flat on the floor but I found that inconvenient. Instead I assembled the ladder in the attic and then moved the mounting plate to where it was going to be mounted and sketched a square…
