Description of Tenhulzen Plates Degrees Conversion Included

Measurements are taken from the wheel rim itself, NOT the tire like other toe plates. Package includes 2 high resolution tape measures with 1/32in increments. Degree alignment specs can be used thanks to the attached degree to inch conversion chart. Specially cut slots will not let the ends of the tape measures fall out while in use. Everything snaps together for easy storage and transport, no case needed.

CLEAN DESIGN BUT NOT FOR OLD PICKUP OR OFF-ROAD VEHICLES!

Apparently they were designed for small cars with small tires and rims. I tried them on my 1993 Chevy K-3500, 265/75R-16 and the struts barely touched the wheel. When I used 2x4s underneath they fit better but then the tape measures hit the tires. Same problem on my 2000 Blazer, 235/75R-15. I wanted to send them back but I waited too long. Maybe I'll find something they work on sometime. It looks like they'll probably work fine with a shorter tire, but if you have a car with bigger tires then…

For the cost of one alignment, you can do everything you own yourself!

Very nicely made plates, well finished and finely finished. I mounted the spacers and checked the dimensions with a caliper. Everything is within 0.001 inch, which is key to the accuracy of your measurements. Both roulettes were also tested directly for money. I had a car in a tire shop with a "modern" laser shelf. Drawn three more times. I abandoned her (perhaps her stand is our calibration stand) and made it myself (just a sock). Found a wheel pretty. Set it to the mfg spec, just like an…

Works GREAT with tire and wheel tools

Used a few times on my 91ft MR2 and 2003 350z. They were originally only fitted to keep the car moving after a suspension overhaul (e.g. adjustable coilovers, inner and outer tie rods, ball joints). Tire wear so far. It's worth the money ($99) and the time savings of not having to take it to the store to align. Played around a bit to see what moves the tie rod one way or the other. Each side will do with numbers. Have paper and pen ready, you'll be jotting down the measurements. I used the rope

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not trendy

Expensive but accurate

They will work but make sure you have a flat surface and the edge of the rim is not dented where the posts meet. I was skeptical of these plates so I checked the string alignment and the readings were accurate. If you have a rocky surface (in the picture I have rocky asphalt for example) this can lead to measurement errors. Both plates must be in full contact with the ground so that they cannot rotate or otherwise move. On asphalt it's more difficult than it seems, you may have to move the car.

Pros
  • Very good value
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Works but not as well as I thought

It can also measure camber and caster for $20 more. See below. This article will do the job, but it's not as good as the video shows if you've seen it. 1. The rims are not high enough for my tires. I have to put a 2" piece of wood on the floor to get the plate high enough for the "screw ends" to touch the inside of my wheelbase. This sometimes causes the rig to wobble a bit, requiring me to fiddle around to find a spot where the plates aren't moving. 2. Plates do not "snap" as shown in the…

Smart and easy to use but needs an overhaul

First of all let me say that this thing is very smart and works great. I like it a lot and find it to be more accurate than other methods I've used to measure convergence/convergence. However, the included small hardware parts are unsatisfactory. There are eight small 10-32 plastic handles that are too flimsy for an automotive tool. Second, the threads in the small metal posts weren't cut properly, so the thumbscrews couldn't be screwed in without damaging the flimsy plastic threads. Third…

Simple and precise - tire and wheel tools

Slightly more difficult to use than in the videos, leaning something heavy against the back plate helps to keep it from moving. Despite this, it is still very easy to use. The struts secure the plate to the rim rather than the uneven tire, and with some care in placement, they make it easier to center the plate on the tire. Both contribute to accuracy and reproducibility. The included chart makes converting your reading to degrees very easy. I felt the need to run a deburring wheel around the…

Pins that fit rim are too short

Dislikes: Short pins will not fit rim when rim and tire width mismatch or when using stretched tires. : It works, I tied them to my dual's tires at my shop, I don't do home wheel alignment so I just ship them, but my personal truck (double) hasn't touched a wheel alignment shop, although I've taught them step by step Step by step how to do it. Now I have flats when I change the suspension or feel something is wrong. You also need to consider the rear axle thrust angle, which is part of the…

Easy and did the job on the first try

I bought them twice now I have a bad fall (steering wheel not working) at wheel alignment shops with fancy gear. The apparently bizarre equipment doesn't offer accurate alignment due to operator error, so I don't have much faith in the alignment shops who can consistently align my vehicles. I just used them after changing tie rod ends and was happy with the results. Easy to use, one man operation, solid construction and even a nice metal finish. I suppose you could do something similar, and…
