. MAKE SURE the jacks on the radio and computer are FILLED! The first few times I tried using this cable, I got reports that it couldn't read the radio or something. I then tried to make sure the USB connector and plugs going to my baofeng were tight. Ensuring the jack plug sits flush with the radio is more difficult than you might think. After that the cable worked great! Win10 does not require drivers. Also works with Raspberry Pi!

Ready to use, no drivers required, I was able to connect the Baofeng UV-5r and use the Chirps program very easily and simply. I work on a laptop with Windows 10.

Used this cable to program Baofeng BF-F8+ radios with CHIRP on my Windows 7 Home Laptop. I had no problems with the drivers and I didn't need the disc that came with it. Truly plug and play! Beware of fake cables sold here. If it's not in the drive box, then you got the wrong cable. I found that, ironically, those that say BAOFENG are usually fake. Get this one and if you want to order more, click 'Buy' again to get the same cable.

This cable is not working. He closes further. When I connect my baofengs to this cable, the data transfer doesn't work. Don't skimp on cables. Get the Mirkit brand for the FTDI chipset instead.

I had an older, more expensive Baofeng UV5r programming cable, but the driver support for W10 failed. Booted a new hard drive with drivers, plugged in a new cable, it worked as it should. I have not studied the documents.

The CD that comes with it is a waste of time. This cable and CHIRP worked great and I was able to program channels with ease. CHIRP even has pre-built lists of frequencies like marine and weather. I have a Baofeng BF-F8HP radio.

To make it work: 1. Install CHIRP2. Download the CH-340 driver from tenwayradio.com/download/3. Make sure the cable is connected when running the USB driver installer. It will fail if you don't.4. start chirp. To configure the radio, change the default COM1 to COM3.

I give it 5 stars because the cable works with my Baofeng (BTech) UV-5X3 and CHIRP software. I couldn't find any others claiming to work specifically for this radio (including this one) so I rolled the dice based on the hassle free return policy. For less than half the price of an "official" cable, that's a lot; I'm pretty sure they're from China anyway. I only got it today so I don't know about the durability but the cable is nice and flexible and will likely last a long time with good care.

Plugged in and the drivers will load automatically on my Win 7 and 10 computer. Haven't used the hard drive at all. My CHIRP software recognized the new COM after only one reboot on my Windows 7 machine and finally after two reboots on my Windows 10 machine. My Baofeng UV-5RA is programmed on the first day!
