TerraMaster D5-300C review

I did not see the review of the D5-300C, so I am attaching some photos and benchmarks, as I will be happy to see them when buying . The D5-300C delivers what was promised. I will only share some information that I think is relevant. The 2.5 HD can only be fixed with 3 screws, not 4. Considering the weight I don't think this will be a problem. (Fig.) - When I connect my SSD with OS installed, the PC cannot boot from it. (Pictured) - The size of the USB-A to USB-C cable is 40 inches. (Image)…

Works well but speed is not impressive

To be clear, this review is for "TerraMaster D5-300 USB3.0 (5 Gbps) 5-bay Type-C External Hard Drive Enclosure RAID 5 hard drive support RAID storage (diskless)." Sometimes these companies on Revain improve their reviews by combining different item options on the same page. The good news is that this thing works and is relatively easy to set up. They include a small card that gives you says which website to go to to get the necessary raiding software. Read/write speeds were around 250MB/s. I…

I bought 3, will get more!

Very happy with these units. I have 3 of these and they work GREAT with my Macs. I used to use eSATA/SATA towers but found USB 3.0 to be fast enough for me, especially on a gigabit network (probably bottleneck). I've used this side-by-side with a Thunderbolt 2 box I got and they were comparable (perhaps the bottleneck is the hard drive speed as I mostly have 5400rpm drives). I was able to guide customers through installing drives in the sled. I mainly use 3.5" drives, but I think I eventually…

First impressions The best in hard drive cases

I bought this unit to replace the Drobo 5D. The Drobo worked well, but what I liked about the D5-300C was its unique 2+3 single configuration. I have a 2 drive rig in Raid 0 for photo speed and again the speed isn't as fast as my Drobo but I think some of this could be due to my Drobo using a 64GD SSD cache drive has installed. I'm still working on small configuration changes and backing up my data online, but as soon as I do, speed tests. My setup: 2 x 3GB NAS drives in a Raid 01 3GB NAS drive

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Some little things

I understand RAID system from professional experience and I have used 2-bay chassis and WD Mirror hard drives. To install hard drives in this case, step 1 of the instructions will ask you to disconnect the thin drive bay cable from the board bracket to the front panel as you slide the drive bay out of the outer case. Step 2 will ask you to press down on the metal bar inside the cage, which should slide out and allow you to install discs in it. No matter how I tried to shake and squeeze that…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Useless functions

Under no circumstances should you entrust your data to this DAS.

I have been using a Dell R610 as a file server for a long time and wanted something with low power consumption, quieter, cheaper etc. I saw this 5 bay unit and with its unique RAID configuration, I thought it would be ideal, because I only need redundancy for part of my data. Unboxing: The good thing about the included packaging is that there are a lot of screws included for both HDDs and SSDs. They contain a screwdriver for mounting the drive, additional rubber feet and labels. I was happy to…
