Fantastic JBOD case

My mediasonic JBOD box suddenly broke and urgently needed to be replaced. This box passed with flying colours. It has better cooling, near-silent operation, faster response than my old box, and it's faster to add a drive. plug and play No regrets or complaints.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Definitely worth it

I've had it for a few months now and it works great. It's quiet and goes to sleep with my computer. I use it to backup hard drives in my tower, 24TB. It could be a bit smaller and I'd rather have the power supply inside a case (like my Sans Digital cases) than outside.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Can't remember

Perfect! good for computer accessories and peripherals

Finally a hard drive enclosure that claims to be hot-swappable, which it really is! Hot-swapping works great in this case, as all other drives stay connected while one is removed or added. This is very important when it comes to data integrity and hard drive replacement. In addition, it is quite quiet and well made. A very good buy for the price.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • No instructions

Using the Signa Mining case

The case is flimsy and flimsy. It takes a little effort to install the hard drives. The instructions are online so they don't include them. You don't know where the screws go until you connect to the internet. Setup was easy, hard drives were recognized immediately. I used this to mine Signa Coins. Pretty fun and easy. Definitely not a bad product overall considering how fragile the trays are I would say it's worth paying for at $100. I honestly should have waited.

Pros
  • inspires confidence
Cons
  • Generally OK, but...

Not like before. features removed.

The key features of the D4-300 have been removed over the years without changing the model number. There is no physical RAID hardware (and software from TerraMaster) like there used to be in this device. There is also no access to TerraMaster. Applications for this model currently (spring 2021). Do not buy this device if you expect any of the above. TerraMaster: You must change the model number if you want to change/remove core functions.

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Perfect for Plex Media Server

Finding the best ways to store Plex Media content and NAS devices is costly and challenging. The TerraMaster D4-300 did not disappoint. What impressed me the most was that TerraMaster even provided the necessary tool (a screwdriver) and labeled the screws (different for HDD and SSD) for easy assembly. And it was easy to assemble. I now have full and instant access to my 30TB of media files (TV shows, movies, documentaries, gospel teachings), which also gave me the ability to keep a second copy…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Not bad

A good box of discs with a minimum of features.

This is just a JBOD box with separate power supply and USB 3.1 interface. It's easy to use, which is good because there are no instructions. The body is solid, the compartments are made of thin plastic. However, the fans are quite quiet. It's not possible to spin up each drive except with software, but I've had no problems. You may need an app to start the drive, or just shut them all down, turn the device off and on again. The power supply makes a pretty solid impression. You can install SSD…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Older model

Use with a Plex Server

I bought two of these to use with a Plex Server running a Mac Mini, one for the main server and one for external backup. I've filled both with WD RED NAS drives and everything works great. I'm getting around 200mb/s on each drive. Considering the WD website says the drives are rated at 180MB/s, those speeds are better than I was hoping for. It was also very easy to set up and the Mac recognized the device without drivers. I put in the first disk and named/formatted it. After doing this, I did…
