My Model 3 has a musty smell of wet socks from the ventilation and air conditioning system. There have been many reports of others having the same thing! I asked Tesla for the cost of changing the filter and the price was over $100. I've been waiting for a replacement and Basenor seems to have created a great alternative to Tesla filters. The smell is gone and the half price Basenor filters look, feel and work just as well!

This is a great replacement for OEM filters. They are exactly the same size and good quality. After about 20,000 miles on my car, the air conditioner sometimes had a terrible smell. After replacing the filters, the smell was gone and it smelled like a new car again. There is a page on the Tesla website with instructions on how to change the filters yourself. It's not very easy, expect to spend about 15-20 minutes if you've never done it before.

I put these filters alongside Tesla OEM filters to see if it was worth paying extra for factory filters. These filters are great OEM replacements and cheaper. The replacement was easy as I changed the filters a few months ago. The smell of mold or "Elon's Mask" disappears immediately. Make sure you clean the coils with Kool it to prevent the smell from coming back. I would buy these filters again as it is much more convenient to order them through Amazon than to drive 50 minutes to my service…

So after about 16 months and 13,500 miles I decided to replace the OEM cabin air filters on my 2018 3 LR RWD. Took about 30 minutes in total as I've already seen a video of how to do it, still more work than most cars I've ever worked on. You need to remove the 4 latches under the glove box and then remove the carpet trim on the console. The hardest part of the replacement is getting to the T-20 bolt that secures the air cleaner flap.
