Whisper IQ Power Filter

I bought this filter based on reviews. I don't like the filter at all. I've been using it for less than a month and the only time I saw clear water was when I first poured water into my 20 gallon tank. I used to have a small Aqueon filter that was more efficient and even quieter than this one. This filter came already assembled and I don't know if it's meant to be like this or if someone else has already used it.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Nothing here

Beware of the possibility of overflow.

In general, I like the filter. This is a 45 gallon model. My aquarium is pretty quiet. I use it in combination with a Hydro-Sponge III filter and power head. But after a couple of weeks, I removed the cover from the Whisper IQ and the water was about to spill over the back of the unit. Exactly what others have mentioned. The problem is simple. The filter is set too high. But using a utility knife to remove part of the bottom of the filter frame seems to have solved the potential overflowโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Communication with the seller

Nice quiet filter that doesn't hit the fish

I tried this filter after throwing away 2 other filters. Both were too loud and turned the aquarium into a mixer with less flow than this one. You can use this filter in small aquariums. Mine is set up in a 3.5 gallon tank, keeping it clean with plenty of flow but designed not to blow fish everywhere. Reduce the flow to a minimum while feeding, then turn it back on when they're done eating. I do not recommend this filter if you are trying to induce flow in an aquarium. To do this, try theโ€ฆ

  • Quality construction

Much More Than You Think (20g)

I ordered a 20 gallon model for one of my 10 gallon tanks because it was said to hold 10 gallons or more and I needed extra flow. When I opened it I was amazed at the size. The tank in question is a 10 gallon tall rimless tank and on the shortest setting the water intake would get half stuck in the substrate. I've compared it to how it would fit in my standard 20 gallon tank and it looks like it's big even for that. I'm pretty sure it's a fine filter if you have the right tank. But in myโ€ฆ

Great filter! on Filters

Despite the name, this isn't the quietest filter out there, but in my opinion, it's probably the best small cartridge filter. I recently bought a small aquarium with a popular brand filter. Within a week I replaced the filter with a higher quality filter from a high end brand that I trust in my larger aquariums. However, after a few days the water became cloudy and I switched back to the original filter, but there was no change (it was mid-week, I work a lot and don't have time to mess withโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Quiet and reliable function, moves a lot of water.

I have had several Whisper brand inline filters as well as Rena external line filters over the years and this is a review of the 60 gallon Whisper IQ. I actually have this 60 gallon block on a 75- Gallon tank mounted. From experience I think you can use a slightly smaller filter and still get quality water treatment with Whisper brand filters and with these types of 'hanging' tank filters you take up a lot of tank wall space and can go down a bit. With my 75 I have a few feet of back wallโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic
