This is an amazing set! Being interested in hydropathology I have a lot of experience with microscopes and this is definitely a very good buy. The optics are sharp and the light source is more than sufficient. The fact that it has a top and bottom light function is great for kids. Very often children are frustrated with microscopy because they are more interested in surface details of objects than cross-sectional views.

Very impressed. It is mostly metal and has 2 bulbs, one on top and one on the bottom. Allows you to view thicker samples as you can only view the top surface. It has some sharp parts (scalpel etc) so make sure you supervise and warn little people. Also, the dyes are not washable, so this is another point to watch out for. This is a gift for my sister. The brochure is well written, informative and easy to use. The microscope looks solid and the lenses are clear and easy to use. Just a small problem with that; Some items are packaged so tightly that they are difficult to remove from the box, creating the potential for damage (especially sliding covers). I decided to wait a few months to write a review to see if it would not only hold up but be interesting and we weren't disappointed. Peyton likes to experiment at home, this microscope is equipped with illumination and a magnification of up to 400x.
