You get what you pay for!

Is the small black stone missing in the filter? So it's just some cloth and a very small amount of those black stones that should be there. I guess that's what I get by going cheap and buying a generic brand.

So little charcoal funny

It has so little charcoal to be sure. Leaving the word charcoal on the list is wrong. In aquariums you need charcoal, otherwise you could just buy a box of cheap white filter material, it's total fake garbage, cheap cheap cheap

the filter media were free of carbon.

This product is missing a crucial element. It must contain charcoal in order to use it for my turtle's pump. It's practically non-existent. So it won't do me any good unless I start them myself by performing a small operation on them. Old filter on the left.

Some activated carbon filters

Well I think if you buy a fake you get what you pay for. They aren't as well made as the Aqeuon filter - the outside is the same and fits in the slot but it has half as many charcoal pellets and I had to replace it sooner. Works well, but I won't buy it again.

Very low quality. Last very short runtime

This is nowhere near the original. The filter contains almost no carbon deposits and clogs very quickly. Once cleaned, they are good again for a very limited time. Bottom line, 10 pieces in a package gave me the same amount of time as 2 originals, but didn't cost much cheaper. Not recommended.

The charcoal is barely visible, and it looks like most of it is outside.

This is junk. The carbon is barely visible and it looks like most of it is on the outside of the filter. It was two 3-packs and they were all the same, so it wasn't just any random filter, they were all like that. See the photo of one of the filters I made. Unfortunately it has been too long since I bought them to return them.

No soot, unpleasant plastic smell.

These filters contain so little carbon it looks like it was accidentally dropped. See the image I've attached. Don't be an idiot like me, spend 3 or 4 dollars more and buy genuine replacement filters. These filters also have an unpleasant plastic smell. I wouldn't even try them in the aquarium I oversee. The cheapness cost me the time to send it back and do this review. Learn from my mistake and stay away from Think Crucial filters.
