Allegedly quieter than the common choke, but no quieter. It's as loud as a regular muffler. I'll have to see if there's a quieter damper. 12/19/18 Update Date I need to buy a different brand muffler. The baffles in the muffler rattle and it's louder than before. Low quality.
Don't let the price fool you these are the best stainless steel mufflers second time buy just remember mufflers are pressure proof don't buy too big a pipe all mufflers will be noisy when they close are big. 150 hp machines do not need a 3 inch pipe
First of all I wouldn't recommend them for a car or truck over 350 hp. Bottleneck to about 2.25 inches. However, the sound of my 2016 Mustang is amazing, very quiet on a light throttle and when I step on the gas it sounds like a completely different car.
This was on a Roulette 02 Dodge Dakota V6. I've had 3 of these over the years and love them. It's just an inexpensive universal muffler. Please note that the installation may require some adjustments. Has a "Silent Performance Sound" that I really like. Would buy it again in a heartbeat, especially if I knew I could adapt it to my current car. Comes with a classic Thrush sticker.
I installed it on a 1986 Ford F350 that I use for plowing and it even has a pickup truck. The old muffler burned out because it was a bit rusty so I looked for something quieter and settled on this one. After some welding and a few strap ties, this thing is definitely a lot quieter than what was on the truck to begin with. The engine is a Ford V8 460ci and it's still quieter than my 2018 Yukon with the factory exhaust.
I got so tired of hearing about the fart can muffler that came with my aftermarket exhaust and ordered and got this Thrush Hush muffler. Furnished. Well I'm glad I did. It looks fantastic and sounds fantastic. A very pleasant sound in normal driving, but definitely an "angry" sound when you actually step on the accelerator. 😉 I installed it on a 2004 Cavalier with 2.2 Ecotec. I highly recommend this silencer from Thrush.
