I have it next to the bed, in the closet on the bedside table. Works well.

I took it because of the power switch for each plug. Between switches and displays, you can see exactly what's happening to your devices and when. Unfortunately I didn't notice when I ordered that it was only 24w. While this is sufficient for most charging needs, if all of your devices are turned on at the same time, you will exceed the rating at peak current spikes. This device works well but has serious limitations.

So far this has worked well. The fact that it is powered is useful for many devices. Separate power switches on each port also make it very convenient to turn devices on and off. I am very happy with it and will update this review based on experience if necessary.

If you want to take full advantage of any of these switches and include charging capabilities, performance matters. handles 5 gigabit throughput (probably max, cumulative, not tested as I don't have the tools). I personally use this in my home studio where I need to plug in anything that now has a USB port instead of a plug. It lets noise through, but since having kids, blocking out distracting noises has become second nature to me. I took off 1 star because not everyone can do it. I hear an annoying noise when the device is powered by the AC adapter. It's hard to describe the sound other than it's quite high pitched and can be heard several feet away in a home office.
