Description of ๐Ÿ”ง Titan 11477 Ratcheting Wire Terminal Crimper Tool - Fixed Jaw Crimper for Insulated Terminals

Ratcheting mechanism with adjustable clamping force allows for precise, repeatable crimps | Compound action design puts more crimping power into each squeeze. Double crimping die creates a secure crimp that resists pull-out | Ratcheting function allows you to secure a wire connector in the die before inserting the stripped wire into the barrel. Quick release lever frees the crimper jaws in any position and when double crimp is complete, acts as a built-in safety measure that can open the handles whenever tool is jammed or stuck. Steel jaw contains color-coded wire size markings for red (22-18 AWG), blue (16-14 AWG), and yellow (12-10 AWG) terminals | Ergonomic bi-material handles offer a comfortable, secure grip. Ideal for nylon insulated solderless terminals - It is not recommended to be used with heat-shrink connectors.

I purchased these crimping pliers on the 24th November , 2016 and I received it on November 26th. Came in a blister and in a small box with no packaging material, nothing was needed, it's a tool. I've used it to crimp insulated electrical plugs and barrel connectors from small red to large yellow and they've made a solid crimp every time. This creates a double crimp that is much stronger than the single crimp of scissor crimps. I've used them on automotive and home wiring projects and love theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Perfect for solderless nylon insulated terminals - not recommended for use with heat shrink connectors
Cons
  • Minor issues

Works well but not great.

. I used a very old crimping tool that I inherited from my grandfather, but it clearly didn't work, so I decided to switch to a new/modern crimping tool. So far I've used this thing about 6-7 times. and my feelings are a bit mixed. While the unit looks good, a few of my crimps were unsuccessful - the wires easily detached from the butt connectors (which is the worst thing that can happen with a crimp, in fact). To be honest there are different ways. Factors that affect crimp strength are theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • . Excellent design.
Cons
  • . Could have chosen a newer model.

I have read many 1 and 2 star reviews AFTER using this crimping tool on various electrical connectors. In my experience, the type and quality of connector used makes a HUGE difference. I have cheap imported steel dies on the ends and they don't crimp very well. Some yellow connectors are not fully crimped. I had to clamp the titanium crimping tool in a vise to fully compress it as I didn't have enough arm strength to fully compress the crimping tool. I'm a 6ft 1in / 220lb weightlifter who canโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • A lot

Titan Tools My Opinion 11477

I bought this crimping tool based on several five star reviews to replace my old basic no ratchet but reliable crimping tool which I accidentally threw in the trash. Thought I'd do something a notch or two up to cheer me up after throwing away my old but reliable one. My boating project so far has involved crimping two Ancor 14 AWG double crimp lugs onto an Ancor 14 wire. With my old crimping tool, this would take about two minutes. It took over two hours with my new Titan Tools double crimpโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good product for the price
