TomTom 910 in portable GPS devices

This is my fourth GPS. There are many errors in the ad and I have sent the corrections back to the company. But they want more money to get updated software. The route is bad, e.g. B. Turn left, up the hill and then turn right to go down the hill, while the best route is to turn right then left on level ground to get to the same point and along better roads. There are better devices at a cheaper price.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Almost OK

Better than advertised

Considering Nuvi or TT 910, very similar devices and $$. The turnip on the 910 was a flimsy mount on the mounting bracket and a poor quality base. I still chose 910 because the European database is included. The mount's support LOOKS flimsy, but appears to be more than adequate. The database has much more detail than my previous car gps. I also get a free database update ($6 S&H). My only slight note is that the target isn't always accurate - maybe 50-200ft away - not a problem if you're aware.

Tom Tom 910 GPS is good for GPS, finder and accessories

Excellent device. Good visibility day and night. Still has accurate routing. Bought in October 2006, so hardly used. I like that the maps are already loaded on it. You don't have to install anything. We love going to wineries for wine tastings and we love that most wineries are already loaded into the device with great routes to the tasting rooms. Saves time searching for tasting rooms. We are very happy with the device so far. We are planning a trip to Tri-Cities (Pasco, Richland and…

USB problems (corruption of PC BIOS) Made me too suspicious

Every time TomTom 910 is connected to my PC (via USB), my PC BIOS gets corrupted. Spent some time trying to understand what was going on (with Dell tech support). I then spent > 1 hour. with TomTom customer service only to be told I need to call back for tech support on Monday. I've read comments about problems customers have had with this unit, but this is the only unit I'm aware of that comes with maps preloaded. Europe (I'm going to Germany in a month). So I decided to give it a try but…

Life saver in Europe

I bought this GPS because it came with maps for Europe. It saved my life during my trip to Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin, London. I don't care if you have the most detailed paper map of these cities, it's impossible for a beginner to get from one place to another with just a paper map, especially if you missed a turn given to you by a local friend. There are so many one-way streets, tiny signs with street names that you could get lost for hours. Then perform circular movements. You need GPS and…

  • Good product for the price

Not nearly as good as a Garmin

Got this unit after owning a Garmin 2610 for many years Graphically looks good with 3D view and all but that's about it already. I find the interface much more user friendly compared to Garmin. What I also don't like is the fact that the device doesn't come with any software to plan a route and manage POIs on your computer. Everything has to be done on the device itself, which is a bit of a hassle when preparing for a big trip. A lot of the annoying things about this device are just not…

tomtom go910: sports and handheld GPS

This product is ideal for those who have never used a GPS system for the first time. are not their forte. just a few comments about the tomtom go 910, on sunny days the screen is hard to see. Despite being quite small, it's still quite large for its size, so don't believe the ads that it's pocket-sized. The POI is a bit outdated and in cities the tom lags behind the instructions a bit. I love the Bluetooth capabilities and if you miss your turn the Tomtom Go 910 does a great job of finding an…

(Updated) Maybe it's not that good.

For years I printed out maps from Google Local and Mapquest (as stacks of old printouts in my back seat prove) and thought that was enough until GPS devices became more intuitive and cheaper. It wasn't until my mother-in-law got the Nuvi 350 for Christmas that I decided to take the plunge. I first bought the Nuvi but after comparing them in store and seeing the 910 added Bluetooth and iPod capability. Control, I've been sold. Of course, the Nuvi 360 supports Bluetooth, but it doesn't…
