Tom-Tom One In Vehicle GPS

Basic GPS for older non-smartphone users. The screen is small, but for the price it's a very good device. The touchscreen and color graphics feel comfortable. If you're looking for a basic, no-frills navigation system, save $50 and buy the One.

Pros
  • Few Competitors
Cons
  • Hardware Sad

It is designed for GPS, finder and accessories

I bought it because it was a bargain. I should have known that TomTom has a fun way of getting you to update maps and that things are changing in LA so you don't even have to worry about it. I now use it as a backup GPS. I just hope this thing finds if and when my phone dies.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Working speed

Consider buying another one, this one is a waste of money

I bought this nit in 2011 and after a few months the battery died. After investigating this issue, it turned out that there is a known bug. that the GPS wakes up by itself and drains the battery completely. No firmware update will ever solve this problem. Avoid, not recommend, seems to be a well-known problem.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Some minor things

Excellent easy to use good value

Was looking for a super cheap replacement for my 4 year old TomTom which was stolen from the car. While the screen might be small for eyeglass wearers (who might be willing to pay $$ for something bigger), I like that it's small so it doesn't obstruct the view. Easy to use, it takes about 2 minutes to search for satellites after power on. IMHO worth every dollar.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Doubtful

The device stopped working after 4 months. Good basic GPS

***UPDATE*** I've had this unit for 4 months now and turned it on this morning. And nothing. Not dropped, not wet, nothing. The device has just stopped working, the green light is on, but the screen does not turn on. I doubt I'll buy another one. Tom-Tom is your main GPS system. Pleasant and easy to use, large 3.5 inch display. Easy update via included USB. The touchscreen is nice, except for a few quirks with the home address setting and more (there was a similar address in the state), I had…

Traveling the UK: Car GPS

We travel to the UK quite often and mostly hire a car. We were in England a few years ago and hired a car and also wanted to hire a GPS but found it would cost the same as the car. We used maps. This year I decided to buy a GPS for traveling to the UK. I bought a TomTom 130S and UK maps for a total of about $120 - about 1/3 the cost of renting there. The TomTom 130S was invaluable for getting around the country and especially for trips to cities like Cambridge. It makes circle fights a breeze…

Pros
  • Not only useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Style 90

Got it for less than $32 including shipping. This was necessary to travel to Montreal as my US cellular plan had no data service and it would cost twice as much to rent a car just to rent a device with a car. I have to disagree with another reviewer who gave a bad review in Canada, in my experience this works well. Of course there are newer and better mapping software out there, but if you plan something in advance all you have to do is plug in your addresses and you're good to go. The…
