Extremely comfortable, great price

Bought these to make a 'frame' out of a molding for my future daughter's nursery when I only had a folding handsaw. They gave me some nice fitting mitres. Later it will come in handy again for some plant stands. That's a great price for a super useful little tool. Hold tight. Get four and you'll thank yourself later.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • A few little things

Decent, but not very sturdy or strong.

This worked well for very small light projects. An attempt to use it on 1/2 plywood to make a box failed. The way the screw attaches to the face is not a good idea. It uses a washer around the smaller part of the screw and when tightening heavier wood the washer popped out. Now it's useless. I understand this is a lightweight version, but I would call it extremely lightweight and not for woodworking.

Clean Trash - Hand Tool

Clean Trash. I used them for a total of 15 minutes and they broke. Small clips break very quickly with very little pressure on them. Luckily I have a neighbor who can weld it back on and have those clips fully functional again. Now I can really pinch and hold things. I have 2 of these and purposely broke all 4 clips to weld them on. Looks ugly but works great now. Thanks Irwin for selling me cheap junk.

Good but not great in hand tools

Irwin makes good clamps and I have a few, this one is just "good". It's well made but would benefit from higher sides to better hold the material. I used a 3" x 1/2" MDF strip about 30" long and found it difficult to line up the corners and hold it securely with a clip so I could use my nail puller. Because the Terminal blocks are actually so small, these parts needed support at the other ends to keep them level, which would be fine for a hobbyist who collects bits and pieces, but nothing more.

Great item, no problem with some Irwin sales, a name I trust and an item I have used. And although this Irwin model is identical except for the color, not even on SALE, it was still at a reduced price from what I paid. I used to need a few pairs, now a few are enough. I broke one of the two a few years ago so this was a great opportunity to replace it. That being said, I was discussing this with someone who thinks I've had this item for about 20 years. Great article, I used them to createโ€ฆ

Light load does mean light load

Ordered two of these to use with two other angle clamps I already had (another manufacturer bought from Home Depot). I used them to fasten 2 pieces of 2x4 wood together just to keep them secure while I drilled pilot holes for the screws. One of the brackets broke under shockingly little force. I only hand tightened and didn't even try to overtighten it. The other has worked well for this project and others I've done since, but I always try not to drag it out too much. amount of power.

Great article, it's not hard to guess an Irwin type offering, a name I trust and an article I've used. Do you feel happy?

I first ordered two of these clamps - one was perfect but the other had a bent screw. All defects were the same - a bent screw on the right side, leading to displacement of the jaws. I have several Irwin tools and they are all very good quality. So I was surprised that 4 out of the 5 clips I received were defective. The only working clamp is a well made tool at a reasonable price. If all the clips were of this quality it would be a 5 star rating. Unfortunately, the 80% rejection rate I'veโ€ฆ
