Description of QUICK GRIP Throat C Clamp - Essential Tools 225134 for Optimal SEO

Deep throat lets you use a smaller c-clamp on a larger project. Larger handle makes it easier to apply more clamping pressure with less hand fatigue. Double-threaded screw reduces screw deflection and drift for faster clamping and allows you to apply 50% more clamping force than with most clamps. C-clamp designed for woodworkers, carpenters, welders, builders, or do-it-yourselfers. Suitable for general clamping needs. Larger swivel pad reduces marring on work surface and increases stability.

The paint came off right out of the box.

Just unpacked two clamps. Immediately noticed paint chips on both collars. The movement of the threads appears smooth, the pad rests at right angles to the anvil, and the anvil appears square. I noticed that another reviewer also had paint chips so that should be systematic with this product. I'll keep them to myself, but it ruins the brand's reputation when they come out of the box in this form.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Unwanted Irwin product

I ordered a pair of these Irwin C-Clamps and they looked used when they arrived. The paint has peeled off in several places. The chipped paint stuck to my palm better than it did to metal. I asked for a replacement and when they arrived the paint was peeling too and one of them had a screw twisted so it almost touched the bottom panel. I also found the screws on them to be quite difficult to turn, indicating a lack of manufacturing precision. Irwin had a good reputation, but that sucks.

Pros
  • Deep neck allows use of a smaller clamp in a larger project. The large handle makes it easier to apply more clamping force with less hand fatigue.
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Good size but head gap problem

I needed deep C clamps and bought two at the store for my drill press. What I didn't realize until first use is that the clamping section is very high and can get in the way. I have switched to deep Bessey C clamps which only have a 1/3 protrusion at the clamp. Bessey CM34DR 3" x 4-1/2" Deep Malleable C Clamp. The Irwin is well made and the lead thread allows for a very quick clamp change. The threads also appear to be plated, but I still use WD-40 to prevent rust. WD-40 is one of those…

Pros
  • C-Clamp for joiners, carpenters, welders, builders or DIY enthusiasts. Suitable for general clamping requirements.
Cons
  • Available in black only

Beautiful yet strong, good for clips

I was a little worried when I noticed that some of Irwin's other C-Clamps were getting bad reviews. But so far I haven't had any luck with these brackets. Until they got distorted and stayed true and straight. The double thread design is meant to help grip things tighter. I haven't noticed much improvement, but maybe that's because I'm comparing them to 8" yokes with the same neck spacing, rather than 3" yokes. And some people have complained about the slow thread adjustment. Maybe on the big C

Pros
  • Larger swivel base prevents work surface scratches and increases stability.
