They added a very high arch

They went and ruined my favorite shoes. They put a whole bunch of arch supports in it, now it feels like an egg under my foot. It was uncomfortable walking around the living room. I did a PCT with the first model and I liked them, I can't even go outside with them. If you have really high arches they are for you, if you have flat feet like me they are not for you.

  • Best in their niche

As good as my Ultraventure 2

Compared to my 2 year old UV shoes they seem just as good. Inside is a cheap white rubber material on the side that barely overlaps with the heavier black material, in contrast to the sturdier construction of the old UV. I have to search, but that's no problem. Otherwise, the fit and comfort are the same. It's just nice to have a shoe that actually follows the shape of your foot. I still want someone to explain why other shoes have a sharp point and pinch your toes. My old sneakers are HORRIBLE

Pros
  • High test results for grip and durability
Cons
  • Some flaws

Too tight and restrictive

At first glance everything looks good with these shoes. But they are super tight. I'm a bit wider, but with some brands I'm fine with a medium width. They were so tight that I felt my circulation drop when I wore them. It was full sized and 1.5 inches or more in front of my big toe. And if you like using alternative types of laces, you might have trouble with the tiny, weird laces they use. I really prefer the good old fashioned eyelets on any type of shoe. I can't say more as I couldn't wearโ€ฆ

Best Wide Toe Hiking Shoe

When I first started wearing wide toe running shoes (I started with the Altra Lone Peak) it was a revelation for me. I didn't get blisters between my toes no matter where I ran 15 miles or more. But these shoes take it to the next level for me. They have decent cushioning, great stability, great breathability, are very durable and lighter than their competitors. In my opinion and for my feet the best long-distance shoe I have ever worn. I bought a second pair after 100 miles so I don't have toโ€ฆ

No finger protection! for men

These are the worst shoes I have ever owned in terms of protection. It's a shame because otherwise they're comfortable, breathable and have good traction, but I've worn them 100 miles twice and ended up with a horrible bump of six toenails between races. I've never had that in any other shoe and this isn't my first rodeo. No toe protection. You might as well hit that rock or root with your bare toe. Once I didn't even hit hard and my toe turned into a bloody mess with a misaligned toenail. Iโ€ฆ
