Trial and error makes the cakes as thin as we want, but we learn to push and twist the dough multiple times to make it thin. Immediately add them to the pan so they don't rise.

This is one serious tortilla press! It's cast iron, which means it's HEAVY, but after years of cooking and baking in cast iron, I wasn't surprised by the weight and figured it might even be an advantage. I was right! Use it with the included parchment paper and it works really well. Use it without it and you will have sticking problems. I prefer reusable products, so I use silicone baking mats instead of parchment. If I improve that I'll update this review lol!

Tortillade - The 10 inch cast iron tortilla press is very heavy, but I suspect that's one of the reasons it works so well. I haven't had much luck with parchment paper, but I have found that the dough separates easily from wax paper. I used a smaller, light alloy press, which worked but required a lot more effort. I love fresh homemade tortillas but my attempts at making them haven't always been successful lol. reuse in the press. My tortilla was nice and flat when I first tried it, but it was impossible to tear it off the parchment paper. I switched to plain plastic wrap top and bottom and it worked 100x better.
