Description of Maximizing Buoyancy & Thermal Protection with TotalBoat Urethane Density Flotation Insulation

LIGHTWEIGHT, 2 LB. DENSITY LIQUID URETHANE FOAM is ideal for adding buoyancy, thermal insulation, soundproofing, and filling gaps or voids. For nonstructural applications only; This premium boat foam is US Coast Guard approved for flotation. CURES TO A RIGID, 94% CLOSED CELL MARINE GRADE FOAM that prevents water absorption and damage from gas, oil or solvents. Once cured, foam can be coated with polyester, epoxy or vinyl ester resin; can also be easily cut or carved to shape. JUST MIX AND POUR FOR FAST RESULTS. Two part foam has a simple 1:1 mix ratio that's easy to use; expands rapidly & hardens in place in about 5 min. at 70-80°F; to build multiple layers for filling under boat decks, pour foam in separate batches. IDEAL WORKING TEMPERATURE IS 75-85°F. Proper temperature, timing, mixing and venting are critical for proper foam expansion; below 75°F expansion decreases; after mixing, the foam expands rapidly, so clean the surface in advance and be ready to pour. AVAILABLE IN A 2 QUART KIT AND A 2 GALLON KIT; Yield: 2 Quart Kit – 2 cubic ft; 2 Gallon Kit – 8 cubic ft; Flotation Range for 2lb foam: 75 lbs per mixed 2 quart kit, and 300 lbs per mixed 2 gallon kit.

Works best in Industrial Adhesives

Works as intended and I'm happy with the results. These two cans are expensive and only filled one end of my 50 year old canoe, but now I'm sure it will float if I capsize. The original foam has been eaten by chipmunks over the years. (Don't store canoes on the ground, kids). There was a little damage on the other end of the canoe and I used something great there. The company says it can't be used for swimming, but I had a lap swim in my pool for a week with no side effects, so....🤔. The photo

  • Urethane Adhesives

Foam worked better than I thought

I used this foam in my 1974 Meyers aluminum boat when replacing the bottom. The foam worked better than I thought. It filled every nook and cranny and by the time I hit the ground it was making no more noise. tips; Make the room you work in as hot as possible, or if you're outside, wait for a hot day. The hotter the room, the more foam rises and the more area you can fill with one pour. A word of warning, try to measure portions as accurately as possible because once this starts you won't be…

Pros
  • Industrial Adhesives
Cons
  • Unsure

Applying the mixture to a sit-up kayak I didn't like it that much at first. In central Texas, the outside temperature in early November was about 80 degrees, the sun came out and warmed up. The jars were stored in my shed and the temperature of the resin and activator was probably around 50 degrees. I mixed some of this stuff up in the sink and put it in my kayak. The stuff didn't really foam. Implementation: The fact that the outside temperature is 80 degrees does not mean that the foam works.

Pros
  • Adhesives, sealants and lubricants
Cons
